BRUCE CROALL (City of Edinburgh) made a solid start to the defence of his National Track League title in ideal conditions at Meadowbank Velodrome last night.
Croall sprinted to victory in the 3km scratch, the opening event of the night, and closed with another success in the 25-lap scratch, where he powered around the closing circuit to see off a field of 21. While Croall's performances were impressive, it was the effort of youth rider Callum Skinner (Edinburgh Racers) that caught the eye with second-place finishes in each of the two races.
Croall's team mate Derek Smith was third both times and boosted his points tally with top spot in the Devil Take the Hindmost.
Defending women's champion Daisy Sherwood (CoE) scored a win in the youth/women Devil.
