EVAN Oliphant (Plowman Craven) retained his title in yesterday's SportActive Scottish Road Race Championships in Hawick after a race-long duel with Gary Hand (Pedal Power).
They were locked together entering the final straight but Oliphant snatched the win by a bike length. Scottish veterans champion John Kermode (Dundee Thistle) was third.

Scottish triathlete Kerry Lang (Johnstone Wheelers) retained the women's title, edging out Claire Thomas and Rosemary Byde (Edinburgh RC).

The junior race went to Dean Martin (Velo Ecosse) in front of teammate Aaron Murray and Robbie Hassan (Rockhard Racing).
