DUNDEE director Callum Melville is set to pay £500,000 to buy Dens Park from prospective Dundee United benefactor John Bennett.
The Aberdeen-based businessman has been in talks with Bennett about taking control of Sandeman Properties, a holding company which owns Dundee's ground and it is understood a deal is almost agreed.

It has emerged that Bennett, who stepped down from the Tannadice board last year and was immediately involved in talks about a takeover at Dens, has ownership of the stadium after giving Dundee a cash injection last season. The £500,000 he invested was put in to help the day-to-day running of the club and, in return, he was handed control of the holding company.

Bennett is now likely to retake his place at Tannadice alongside owner Stephen Thompson so must get rid of his assets at Dens to comply with the rules.

• Former Dundee midfielder Temuri Ketsbaia has been announced as Olympiakos' new coach. Ketsbaia, who used to coach Anorthosis, replaces Ernesto Valverde after the Spaniard refused to accept a salary reduction to renew his one-year contract.

SOunds dubious if the company that owns the ground has "nothing to do" with the football club that uses it....but then again dodgy dealings appear to be the norm for Dundee FC

#1 - They presumably are "connected" companies. Is that not implied in the term "holding"?

But even if this isn't the case, surely it's going to be a bit awkward if a DUFC Director effectively owns Dens Park?

Seems that £500,000 is burning a hole in Melville's pocket, given the latest threat of a bid for Scotty Robertson.

Oh aye - here we are, 5 months after the above article was published, and John Bennett STILL owns Dens Park.

LMFAO!
