THE challenge of helping Scotland's most promising young golfers fulfil their potential persuaded the Scottish Golf Union and Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association yesterday to announce the appointment of Neil Kilgour as performance manager for Scottish golf.
Kilgour, who previously worked for Sportscotland as a performance manager, will work closely with both national bodies to ensure that young women as well as men are offered equal opportunities in pursuit of world class results.

Meantime, John Sommerville, 76, a former teacher, is the SGU president for 2008. An R&A rules official, Sommerville has represented the South of Scotland Golf Association on the SGU since 1997, serving initially on the golf committee, and later on the championship committee.
