To any of these twentysomething tennis hot shots who would take themselves too seriously, I thumb my nose.

Djokovic has brought some new life to the sport, and if that includes a little good-humoured ribbing of his compatriots' tics and traits then it is indeed the better for it!

I adore watching Federer's artistry, as I do Nadal's tenacity, but ah! how quickly Djokovic's joviality has reinvigorated the sport! Those who would seek to rebuke him would do well to stop and take a page from his book: Life is short; smile you fools!

I'm a fan of Federer's just because he's so good, but haven't been utterly devoted to any player on the tour since Kuerten. After watching the US Open final though, it looks like I'm going to be watching Djokovic closely. He's talented and great to watch. I had been rooting for Federer going into the match (and was ultimately glad he won), but the kid has begun to win me over.

Andy Murray will be gutted by Sharapova's 'interest' in Djokovic!!! Andy was going well this year until Sharapova declared an interest in him and that's when he had his wrist injury!!!

More than a coincidence me thinks!!;)

a SWISS TENNIS PIRATE scourges all
[ROGER FEDERER wins his fourth consecutive
UNITED STATES OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
9-September, 2007]

say the names slowly with emphasis
Laver, Emerson. Borg, Sampras, and now
the Swiss pirate outfitted in couture tennis black
black headband, black wristbands, even black socks
FEDERER – FEDERER – FEDERER
like some long-ago buccaneer out to conquer
(perhaps could he be a character created by RAFAEL SABBATINI in his novels of lusty brigands)
all his opponents crumble and can not match
ROGER the rogue’s battery of blasts
his serve, his forehand, his volleys
this rover forces all to walk the plank
to be just eventual factoids for commentators in the next day’s tennis stories
that scream FEDERER – FEDERER WINS – FEDERER WINS AGAIN
other dispirited players marvel at his control of the game
his backhand sweeps one-handed to crush
tennis balls that land softly just inside lines
to end the sentence; these all too-short stories of sets with just a pose
as his right-arm hangs in the air
to place an exclamation point
from this SWISS swashbuckler
which no continent or tennis port-of-call
is immune to how he mistreats these innocents dressed in tennis white
by the bemused pirate ROGER, ROGER FEDERER
scream his name with the other court greats
FEDERER – FEDERER - FEDERER
an all-time tennis conqueror…

Stu, in Fed's defence, if Novak isn't pals with the guys he imitates, as he evidently is with Maria, then yes he is walking a tightrope.

Novak is such a talented teenager on the tour
been a big fun of the swis maestro i stun with his defeat in the hands of novak in montreal. the maestro had his revenge in the us open finals. All what i wanna say is that am glad tp see someone else challenging my hero(novak) aside nadal his sense of humour kills it all. He will be number 0ne day
