I recall a rugby international at Murrayfield where Andy Irvine dropped a goal from distance and it JUST cleared the bar. The only person on the field who could see whether it was a goal or not was the Irish captain, Tom Kiernan, who immediately raised his arm to signal the goal.
Good stuff.
#3 Martin. Also, you may recall, at the same Brookline Ryder Cup, the American Payne Stewart conceded a putt to Colin Montgomerie of about 50 feet due to spectator taunts. Would this not qualify as a sporting gesture as well. And BTW the Americans were quick to acknowledge their premature celebrations (thus trampling on Olazabal's line) and were quick to apologize. If that matters?!!!!
Great stuff. Up their with Fowler deliberately missing a pen for Liverpool after he dived to win it in the first place.
Fox sake!! Great gesture & great result.
As my local club down here (apologies to Peterboroogh Utd) I hope Leicester make it back to the Premiership this season, but not sure Megson is the right appointment after the recent managerial farce.
Celtic were lauded by the home crowd for doing the same thing twice the other night.
But seriously, nice one.
I was about to add some smart alec comment about various Scottish international teams gifting goals to the opposition (hello Stewart Kennedy and Alan Rough), but the guy above me has beaten me to it. To keep the good humour going, I hope Jock Tamson is a Celtic supporter.
