A man was left seriously injured after a disturbance between dozens of football fans, police said today.
Around 100 Partick Thistle and Airdrie supporters clashed in Arlington Street in the west end of Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.

The disturbance happened around 2.20pm, shortly before the league match between the Division One sides at Firhill.

A
38-year-old man sustained a serious head injury but did not make a formal complaint.

Strathclyde Police said they are trying to identify those involved in the fight and establish the circumstances surrounding it.

Sergeant Marian Maclean said: "Officers are checking CCTV, speaking to local businesses and are carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area.

"We would specifically like to hear from any eye witnesses, including those who may have taken any mobile phone or digital camera images of the disturbance, or owners of business premises with CCTV which may have captured images."

A Partick Thistle spokeswoman said: "We have not been officially notified of the incident but obviously we don't condone fans doing anything which could bring the club into disrepute."

A spokeswoman for Airdrie said the fight had not been reported to them.

Partick vs Airdrie - a big game with a lot at stake,eh?

Poor Drogba is getting pelters for taking the Champions League semi-final too seriously.

Meanwhile some punters in the West of Scotland are getting all hot and bothered over this.

Mind you, what else is there to do in Glasgow?

This is typical of the airdrie orange thugs. Notorious for their ignorance and bigotry. This club should be closed down.
