WHEN Scotland beat France in 1984 to secure our first Grand Slam since 1925, there were eleven players from Border clubs in the team. Hawick and Gala each provided three, Selkirk two, and Melrose, Kelso and Jedforest one a-piece.
Over the following 20 years the Borders produced players of the calibre of John Jeffrey, Alan Tait, Gary Armstrong, Craig Chalmers, Tony Stanger, Gregor Townsend, Doddie Weir, Bryan Redpath, Cammie Murray and Chris Paterson.

Excellent idea Allan. Probably too good to be taken up.

And, do Edinburgh's Edinburgh games have to be played at Murrayfield? Thanks to council neglect Meadowbank is a midden (I know my sons play football there) but can Myreside or another stadium not be used until a solution is found?

Everybody knows Edinburgh need to move from Murrayfield, except it seems, the people who matter. It's so amazingly obvious.

Just do it!
