SCOTTISH champion Eilidh Child (Pitreavie) was in impressive form in retaining her 400 metres hurdles title in 58.03 secs at the British Universities Championships at Bedford yesterday.
The 21-year-old Edinburgh University student from Kinross had won her heat in a season's fastest 59.53 secs on Saturday and was well clear of her nearest rival in the final. City of Edinburgh's Jayne Nisbet (Stirling) won the high jump with a personal best outdoors of 1.80 metres.

Two Scots won medals in the men's 400m hurdles, David Martin (Victoria Park) a student at Loughborough, was second in 52.67 and Martin Lipton (Edinburgh) third in a personal best of 53.12.
