SCOTLAND could have as many as four athletes in Team GB after Andrew Lemoncello (Fife AC) almost certainly clinched his place for Beijing last night, writes SANDY SUTHERLAND.
He smashed his personal best and achieved his second A standard Olympic qualifying mark in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the Gaz de France Golden League meeting at the Stade de France in Paris last night.

Though down in eighth place, Lemoncello clocked 8:22.95 seconds, a time which had eluded him when he could place only third in the British Trial at Birmingham last Sunday.

"I hope I've done enough," gasped the sometime silver service waiter from St Andrews.

"It was kind of hard as I was running on my own most of the time and I had to try to keep my own pace."

"I waited in the stadium for long time after the race to find out my time and in the end had to come up into the media centre to find out."
