Second Division round-up
LEADERS Ross County's 12-game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end as they were on the receiving end of a 4-2 home defeat to Ayr United.
Ayr took the lead with two goals in a minute scored by Gareth Wardlaw and Alex Williams on the half hour. Ryan Stevenson made it three, then four, either side of the break, before County finally rallied and pulled goals back through Sean Higgins and Michael Gardyne.
County, who remain nine points ahead of Airdrie, meet Ayr again on Saturday, this time at Somerset Park.
Four-goal Cowdenbeath striker Denis McLaughlin, on loan from Hearts, was in fine form in a 5-4 win at Berwick. McLaughlin scored twice in the first four minutes before Ian Little pulled one back. Mark Ramsay restored the Fifers' two-goal advantage but goals from Little, David Greenhill and Brian Fairbairn swung the game Berwick's way, before McLaughlin hit two more to seal victory.
