Craigentinny miss prelims

THE draw for the Edinburgh Bowls Cup has been made and holders Craigentinny will by-pass the preliminary round.
The competition, sponsored by Specsavers, will get underway on Friday, June 27, and will involve some 912 players from the 38 member clubs of the Edinburgh Bowling League.

Craigentinny will enter the scene on Friday, July 4, with Edinburgh West En
d providing the first-round opposition.

Craigentinny hold the record with three title wins followed by Pilrig on two and the inaugural champions in 1998 have drawn 2000 winners Leith in the first round.

Parkside won the Cup in 2005 and the reigning Division 1 champions face Division 4 Braid in the first round.

Preliminary round: Queensberry v Brunstane; Liberton v Lutton Place; Seafield v Summerside; Coltbridge v Civil Service; Tramways v Corstorphine; Trinity v Edinburgh.

First round: Niddrie v Dudley; Tanfield v Wardie; Dean v Whitehouse and Grange; London Road Foundry v Maitland; Craigmillar Park v Postal; West End v Craigentinny; Hillside v Mayfield; Goldenacre v Merchiston; Parkside v Braid; Pilrig v Leith; Willowbrae v Portobello; Ferranti v Northern; Blackhall v Tipperlinn.

time for the diddy cup again not the best clubs in the city but it gets the players out the house. all the real action is in the west of the city
