SLATEFORD bowls ace Andrew Ramsay captains the Edinburgh & Leith side in the Scottish Counties Championship for the Andrew Hamilton Trophy and the bid for an 11th title success starts against Stirling County East at Adrian (Falkirk) tomorrow (2.00pm).
It's a match E&L should win and the 24-strong line up looks promising with the selection committee under president Bill Watson of Colinton hoping that the rinks will gel and the players perform with fire and passion.

Watson and Co have invested a
lot of faith in debut skip James Hogg who has switched camps from East Lothian and also give first-time starts to Craig McCall, Jason Ronaldson and Craig Aitken.

East Lothian have been high flyers in recent times with title wins in 2003 and 2005 followed by defeat in last season's final so expectations are high for another successful campaign in the East qualifying section.

They open against Border at Port Seton where Gary Murray captains a team that bristles with top class skips in Alex Marshall, Angus Blair, Struan Robertson, Alister Kennedy, Steven Morgan, and the amazing Willie Wood, 70.

West Lothian cross the River Forth to take on West Fife at Rosyth and Midlothian open against Fife County at Gorebridge.

• CITY legend Willie Dyet is competing for an amazing 55th season in the Water of Leith League and played in the Bainfield First Sixteen team that scored a great 4-1 home win over Carrick Knowe on Wednesday night.
