UNBEATEN Capital super-middleweight boxer Kenny Anderson today admitted he was "bored and frustrated'' at not having a fight lined up this month.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist is set for a week's sparring at London's TKO gym with Johnny Eames' fight stable but said: "This is my year for a British title eliminator by December and to get that I have to fight regularly but right now not o
nly am I not going to be boxing competitively in January but my management haven't yet been able to confirm February as my next ring appearance date.

"I'm not criticising my manager, Barry Hughes, because, like me, he is in the hands of other promoters but I'm going to tell Barry that I want a spot on the February 2 fight card featuring Amir Khan against Gary St Clair at the London EX-Cel Arena.

"I'd also like to fight on the David Haye v Enzo Macarennelli title fight card too.

"I know that I can make 2008 my big breakthrough year for a British title shot, but only if I actually fight in the ring, not just sparring with big names and talking about it.

"I also want tougher opponents whose defeat by me will accelerate me up the British ratings, so to be honest, I'm ready to adopt a 'have-gloves-will-travel attitude' and take meaningful fights at relatively short notice."

Gilmerton's former Scottish amateur featherweight champion, Jason Hastie, will also accompany Anderson down to London on Friday where the unbeaten pro ill spar with former WBU title contender, Paul Marsh at the TKO gym in East London.

Meanwhile, Midlothian amateur boxing club boss, Colin Richards, has confirmed his club has won the right to stage the annual Eastern District youth championships on Saturday and Sunday January 26/27 in the Danderhall Community Centre.

kenny anderson you started off on a high level stage. your opponent and his fee set the tone for your future fights.a lower profile would have enabled you to quietly start to build your your own standing in the square ring.stevie mcguire has done just that, and he is progressing nicely, and gaining experience and stature.these are the important facets that will carry you further in pro-boxing. you have the necessary ambition and tools to do a great job.your manager needs to smarten up to this reality, and concentrate on how he promotes you,as his best shot of fame and fortune, as well as yours. you may now have to travel, to get the opponents you need to give you enough experience to match the best at your weight.

kenny anderson is not being kept active enough, he is one of the best prospects in the uk but is being held back possibly because he is scottish, sports network have done nothing for alex arthur take note kenny dont let them destroy your career. a commonwealth gold medalist with a 100% ko record as a pro would be a hero if he was from england. do you really want to fight 25 journey men before you get a title shot?

not to rub salt in the wound, staying amateur would have had you boxing regularly and against the top opposition on the planet. a solid amateur career usually carries that athlete to success and riches.
sugar ray leonard,pretty boy floyd mayweather,john conteh, john h stracey,chris finnegan,kenny buchanan
scott harrison, amir khan and lennox lewis to name a few.think on soft lad.

going back to 1978 when we started boxing in danderhall community centre, the venue was recognised as one of the best in the district. we held youth championships there the next year. a lot of good boys will be doing their stuff, with commonwealth games opportunities in the offing.always value for money, best live entertainment on offer.

thomas i agree that kenny is not fighting enough but i do not see what the benifit would be from staying amature any longer he is after all the only lightheavy weight to ever win gold at the commonalth games from scotland! what kenny has to do is sort out his managment/promoter and start getting more pro fights, once froch moves on there is nobody who will be a problem in the british rankings at present

staying amateur would have exposed him to the best of the boxers on the planet ,some of whom are not allowed into the pro ranks,so the experience gained there would have set him up for the pro ranks. carl froch would not last with kenny anderson, after he has another 10 fights. we are looking to the wider sphere for his talents,a british championship is only a stepping stone for kenny anderson.

thomas i feel i need to reply to your comment re kenny anderson not staying amature,as your aware he won the commonwealth games gold, and instead of waiting a furthur two years for the olylimpics he turned pro,in which time he as had 6 fights 6 kos not bad for a soft lad eh.if your aware of any other soft lads please give them my details i will gladly coach them, the truth is kenny finds it hard alredy to get people willing to fight him,hes on the verdge of british title and im sure he will go so much further as long as he applies himself as he has the last two years.so lets get behind him and stop knocking him.
