WBO Interim super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur was today on tenterhooks as he awaited a decision on whether his proposed world title fight with Joan Guzman would take place in Scotland.
Arthur's manager Frank Warren has outlined his purse bid to stage the fight to Guzman's camp and Arthur will learn tonight what the outcome is.

However, even if the fight goes ahead here, it is unlikely to be in Edinburgh, never mind Arthur's drea
m of fighting at Edinburgh Castle.

Arthur said: "Although Frank has pledged to put my challenge to Guzman on in Scotland it won't be in Edinburgh as the last time a world title show was staged at Ingliston in 2005 loads of fans complained about not being able to see the ring properly, so almost certainly it will go ahead in Glasgow.

"The waiting and tension that I've endured over the festive period will finally be ended at around 8.30pm tonight when the WBO will announce whether Frank Warren's bid has been successful.

"I've now watched Guzman in action on videotape and, quite honestly, he would be my toughest ever opponent as a pro.

"Guzman is a class ring act, who is coached by Floyd Mayweather senior and quite frankly I'd have my work cut out fighting him.

"He's the first and only opponent who has made me think beforehand that there is a chance he might even beat me, so victory over Guzman would be no foregone conclusion, but I'd still be giving it my best shot."

Guzman is indeed a class act, lighning fast fists and an excellent defence.
I just wish AAA had been in with more quality before taking this fight.
Mistakes have been made, a couple of years back Arthur
fought the Polish boxer Darius Snarski, his toughest test to date, the Pole was excellent but AAA beat him and deservedly so, he should have built on this calibre of opponent but he went backwards, fighting non-raters, I blame his management for this.
Had he upped the quality of opponent he probably would have been ready for Guzman, alas I fear the worst.

I can't see Guzman coming to the UK. He failed to show when he was meant to fight Scott Harrison and if Frank Warren wins the purse bids I think he will relinquish the title rather than fight here.

It would be a good fight if it does happen and it would certainly tell us a lot about Alex Arthur.

there are no easy fights at this level.a.a.a. has got to this point.how he got here is now redundant.I still give a.a.a. a punchers chance versus joan guzman.the storm would likely come early as guzman would try to take him out of his comfort zone.one good hook or right hand, or a combination of both can end this match-up in a.a.a.s favour.I too, have studied guzman v soto several times.fighting out of scotland may not be as bad as some people think, with regards to the outcome of the fight.

Guzman failed to show because the Harrison camp, not for the first time, were in total disarray.
Frank Warren wouldn't agree to previously agreed upon verbal assurances, because of a lack of trust in Scott Harrison.
The fact that neither party took legal action bears this out.
Guzman would have been too good for Harrison.
Have you ever seen Guzman?, looks more like a movie star than a boxer, no buckled nose here, he has fought the tough American and Mexican circuit for many years and obviously has an excellent defence.

Harrison ended up fighting Nedal Hussein on the date that he was meant to fight Guzman. Guzman never fought at featherweight again.

Rumours are that Frank Warren is trying to match AAA against Scott Harrison for the Interim Title (subject to board approval).

Thomas is right when he says AAA has a punchers chance. I just think Guzman would be too cute for him and it would be tough landing many decent shots.

at this time harrison v a.a.a. is not a viable proposal. harrison is not on the radar, and has not proven to anyones satisfaction, that he is fit mentally or physically.there are too many questions to be asked of scott harrison at this time. if he is to make a comeback, a title fight is not his first priority.finding the proper weight and two or three warm up fights against decent opposition are more important to him than any title fight. he needs to know if he the real scott harrison first.
