TWO rising amateur boxing stars from the Craigmillar club grabbed glory in Fife at the weekend in a Denbeath club show, writes BRIAN DONALD.
At light-flyweight, Craigmillar's James Bruce won a narrow but deserved points verdict over the Wester Hailes-based Clovenstone club's Ryan McCutcheon and Craigmillar flyweight Peter Casey used stylish left jabs to outscore Hillpark's Kevin McGregor.

Craigmillar fighter Usman Ahmed gave a good account of himself against the non-stop aggression of Newarthill battler Willie Cook.

South Queensferry welterweight Owen Spence lost a close points decision against tough Fifer Steve Cramb of Madison Club while Clovenstone heavyweight Steve Wilson lost his slogging match with Denbeath's John Cook.

• GILMERTON'S two-time British youth lightweight champion Conor McCallum has won his appeal against a £50 fine and being put on probation for 12 months. Amateur Boxing Scotland now accept that he was only trying to defuse a situation earlier this year when Craigmillar boxer Jason Easton was injured during an attack by a team-mate at a tournament in Germany.
