EDINBURGH's Craig McEwan will be cheered on by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya when he faces Jamie Parison in Canada.
The unbeaten middleweight, now based in Los Angeles, is bidding to notch his 17th consecutive victory in North America on Saturday and wants to impress because De La Hoya, now a promoter, has hinted that he will give him a professional title shot in 2010.

"This is going to be good test for me as my opponent is greatly admired but I believe I have enough heavy artillery in my arsenal to crack his undefeated run," said McEwan. "I got a real boost when my Golden Boy promotions group boss, Oscar De La Hoya, called at our gym in LA to tell me he'll be at ringside in Quebec."
