MICHAEL Gomez has warned Amir Khan that he can expect the same treatment meted out to Alex Arthur when the pair meet at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on 21 June.
The Manchester veteran is relishing his unlikely chance to return to the big stage at the age of 30 after suffering a number of painful defeats which threatened to bring an end to his unpredictable career.

However, Gomez enjoyed his most unexpected success when he defeated Arthur at Meadowbank in October 2003, dumping the Scot on the canvass three times in the fifth round.

Gomez said: "Amir's a very good fighter but he's never fought anyone like me. I'm going to take him out of his comfort zone and get in his face before the first bell has even sounded.

"I save my best for the big occasion. I went to Scotland to fight Alex Arthur, who had a virtually identical record to Amir, and I blew him away in the fifth round. I'm going to do the same thing to Khan."

Khan acknowledged he could expect a very different kind of test than he faced in his last outing against Martin Kristjansen last month. Khan said: "There is no way Gomez is going to be as fit as me, so I expect a spectacular stoppage."

I would live to see Gomez win but I just can't see it happening. He has been struggling big time and it is a matchup that dosn't show much ambition for Khan. Gomez is really another Super featherweight. The only difference from recent Khan foes is that he has a bit of a dig. I can't see anything other than Khan blowing him out the way he did against Graham Earl (another shot fighter).

The gomez of 4 years ago would absolutely destroyed Khan. Sadly I don't see that happening now though.

Khan, whilst and impressive talent, has had his oppenents hand picked and he's certainly never come up against anyone remotely imtimidating. Gomez is a nutter and it will be interesting to see if Khan manages to deal with the psychological aspect
