FOUR Edinburgh youth amateur boxing stars jetted out to Tampere, Finland, today in a quest for medal glory.
They will be boxing for Scotland in the multi-nations Pirkka championship event for Schoolboys and Cadet class champion boxers born between 1990-94.

Gilmerton's classy southpaw youth champion Josh Taylor steps up a weight from light-fly to flywei
ght, while his clubmate Conor McCallum takes his place in the lightweight division.

Leith Victoria's light-welterweight counterpuncher Sandy Forsyth will also be seeking medal glory from the trip to the Nordic nation.

The Midlothian Boxing Club's light-flyweight prospect Dylan Moffat, 14, who recently battled his way to the final of the British Schhoolboys championships in Sheffield, is rewarded for his sterling performance by his first international call-up.

Scottish team manager Jimmy Dunn said: "We are taking a 17-strong team to Finland and I have high hopes that both the lads from the east and their team-mates from other regions of the country can do well and bring back some medals.

"But it also gives valuable international experience to youngsters like Midlothian's Dylan Moffat and others who are really just starting their international careers."
