Ismael Bouzid's dramatic second-half winner completed Hearts' comeback against 10-man Celtic in an enthralling Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Tynecastle.
The visitors took the lead through Georgios Samaras after 21 minutes and looked as if they would be in for a comfortable afternoon.

However, 10 minutes later Hoops' skipper Gary Caldwell was sent off for a last man tackle in the box on Jamie Mole,
with Jambos' captain Michael Stewart scoring from the spot.

Despite being a man short, the Parkhead side bossed the game but in the 76th minute Bouzid headed a David Templeton cross past Artur Boruc to leave the visitors stunned and trailing SPL leaders Rangers by four points.

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray will wonder how his side managed to lose ground in the title race.

The Hoops looked solid enough in the early stages and midfielder Aiden McGeady, booed by the home fans with his every touch, set Scott McDonald up in the ninth minute but the Australia international blazed his right-footed drive from 30 yards high over the bar.

A minute later, though, Eggert Jonsson, playing in the Hearts midfield, tested Hoops' keeper Boruc with a drive from similar distance before Samaras' header was saved by Jambos keeper Marian Kello at the other end.

In the 16th minute McGeady drove forward and released Samaras on the left side of the box and this time Kello pushed the side-footed shot on to the post and behind for a corner, which the Edinburgh side survived.

Moments later, Templeton mis-kicked his volley from 12 yards but still had time to have another attempt with his head but the ball went wide of the far post.

However, in the 21st minute, after the impressive McGeady won a corner, Celtic took the lead.

Barry Robson's inswinging cross from the right was headed off the back post by McDonald but Samaras swept the rebound into the net from eight yards.

It was the fifth consecutive game in which Samaras had found the net and his 10th of the season.

It looked like the visitors would cruise to three points but in the 31st minute the Jambos were back in the game.

Caldwell was controversially sent off after conceding a last man penalty on Mole, after Hoops defender Glenn Loovens had allowed McGeady's header to go through into his own box.

Stewart sent Boruc the wrong way with spot-kick and immediately substitute Stephen McManus replaced Marc Crosas to shore up the Parkhead defence.

The game's dynamic had changed by the time the second half began but in the 51st minute the home side rode their luck when McGeady's wonderful right-footed strike from 30 yards sped past Kello only to rebound off the post with Gorgie defender Jose Goncalves completing the clearance.

The Parkhead side took heart from that near miss and moments later Samaras fired just wide of the target from the edge of the box after he had again turned the Gorgie defence with ease.

Moments later, Hearts left-back Lee Wallace did well to thwart McDonald at the near post after great work again by Samaras who had left Bouzid in his wake.

Jambos' substitute striker Christian Nade replaced Scott Robinson just before the hour mark as the home side tried to make the most of their numerical advantage.

But it was Samaras who missed a good chance in the 61st minute, blasting over the bar from 16 yards after McDonald had robbed Goncalves to set him up.

Marc-Antoine Fortune then came on for McDonald. Celtic were clearly on top but the game dramatically turned Hearts' way in the 76th minute when Templeton's deep cross from the right was headed in by Bouzid for his first goal for the Gorgie club.

The Algerian defender, booked earlier for gesturing at the visiting support, was immediately substituted for Marius Zaliukas as Mowbray, in an act of desperation, sent on winger Niall McGinn for right-back Andreas Hinkel.

The Parkhead men threw everything forward and with five minutes remaining Loovens had a net-bound header cleared off the line by Craig Thomson before Kello made a point-blank save from Fortune as somehow Hearts managed to see the game out.

The two faced scant aka Dilly Dallyman will be crawling out from somewhere shortly to tell us all how good "Walter",The Manager Without Potfolio has Rearrangerz playing.

He will also couch that with faint praise for Scotlands True Champions Celtic after our defeat today when going down to ten men.

Thats just his character and to be fully expected.

Dilly Dallyman,he who turns quicker that milk in the midday desert sun.

Sad.

Great result, I've made a packet off us beating Celtic this season! I think the nerves were to be expected, given how many late goals we've shipped this season, but hopefully a turning point, and surely some of the youngsters have to now be given an extended run. For what it's worth, I don't think Templeton, Mole or Robinson had particularly great overall games, but they all showed willing and mobility, which has been largely lacking in the wage drains that they replaced.

No disgrace for the hoops today.

Dominated the game even with ten men, hit the woodwrok three times, missed a real sitter and forced several great saves from the Heart keeper as well as having one cleared off the line.

Hearts got lucky and they know it. Still let them celebrate for they are a miserable club run by a miserable owner in a miserable wee midden in Embra, oh and their support is pretty miserable too.

Onto Scotland's true champions Celtic and once again it is clear we need to get rid of Loovens, Caldwell Hinkel and McManus. The rest of the side are top notch.

Bring on the Rangers.

I agree with Lazarus. The only disgrace out there was the referee. He sends of a Celtic player. He gives Hearts a penalty. He forgets to give Celtic any penalties or to send any Hearts players off. Can't see him being given any more Celtic games to officiate.

I thought the ref was pro-Hearts actually. Not that much, but most of the fifty fifty decisions he gave Hearts and he should have sent off Hearts Bouzid, it's a disgrace that Laslo cheated by pulling him off during his celebrating because he knew he was going to be off.

I have asked Ryan to only respond to GRMpundit, because he likes toying with pundit...he actually OWNED pundit one afternoon a few months ago. Still an internet classic. (Google it and see how many hits it gets)

Anyway I have instructed Ryan to type donkey noises for pundit because that's the only language Donkey Boy Pundit understands. LOL.

Celtic dominated this game until going down to 10 men, and even after that were the better team. Unfortunately, they couldn't put away the chances they made.

It's good that the bluenoses are taking the chance to gloat while they can; the season's got a long way to go and I've a feeling you won't have much to gloat about at the end of it.

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray:
"I don't think the game changed at the penalty as I thought we were comfortable throughout and the team functioned okay today 10 against 11.

"I don't want to make any comment about officials, as we are told not to. If he thought it was a penalty and a sending off, we wave bye-bye to it and move on.

"We have to accept it and take it on the chin. The positives were that we are making chances.

"I thought Aiden McGeady was untouchable again. It was a sensational performance from him."

Unfortunately matches and championships are not won by "dominating matches" or hitting woodwork. It's the inflated round thing over the goal-line between the 2
upright thingy's with the net hanging off the back.

The team that scores more goals than the other team wins.

When your team is beaten, accept it and move on.

We have to :- regularly.

The most disapointing thing today was when the soap dodgers went one up and they came out with a chant about us being the wee current buns!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the #### are you on.Let me explain to you thicko west coast buckfast drinking tubes. Most Hearts fans dispise you both in equal measure.Do you think we dont enjoy sticking it up your partners in crime from the same city aswell?
The other disapointing thing reguarding the bule half is they stole the idea of the saltire on the back of there strips from us.Now the whole world knows where there trail of distruction around europe leads back to,shame aint it.

I thought the Hearts youngsters did pretty well today, although some of them did seem to tire badly towards the end. Literally boys against men at times.
A very important result for us, especially in the light of next week's game against Falkirk. Having said that, there is no doubt we were extremely fortunate to get the win. We have been due some luck of late.
It is time the rules were changed, giving a player a red card and also awarding a penalty is double punishment, and against natural justice!

Hearts youngsters started the game well & dominated until Celtic scored AGAINST the run of play. After Hearts equalised Celtic ,despite 10 men played well nd created the better chances. CSABA done his best to help them by taking off young Robinson and replacing him with NADE,who looked like some punter who won a raffle to play for his favourite team for 30 miins...Nade then proceeded to make sure that we gave Celtic possesion at every opportunity. Rode our luck, couple of great saves and a cracking winning goal.

Good platform to build from.

I wouldn`t doubt that for a moment.

It is also good to see that other posters have and are paying more attention to Dilly Dallymans two-facedness.

Going back to your analogy of the yoghurt factory where Dilly Dallyman is employed.....the doors that you speak of would need to be mirrored on both sides.
Thats just to ensure that Dilly Dallyman can see both sides of his two-faces no matter which side of the doors he stands ;@).

Jeez.....Celtic dropped points and the rodents come out the woodwork. You'd think there were actually a lot of them but in reality Adam Murray, Jo-Jo and Dave the uphill gardner are all the same guy. Pretty sad really. Makes me feel warm inside knowing that Celtic title win this season will hurt them so much.

Now back to the game, never seen it, but the central defence needs sorting. Thats no secret, as we all knew it anyway. However, its worth noting to you all -the mishapen ones form the southside and the diddy team fans - Celtic have been overcoming poor refereeing decisions (although poor with integrity:-) for over 100 years and we still triumph.

You have been warned - enjoy the rare sweet taste of success, but be warned, it will soon turn sour for you as usual.

Hail Hail!

I still think we will catch and overtake the hobos we all know how badly they fade after the new year and we get stronger. I fancy us to go a winning running, Hibs and Utd aren't winning many games so think 3rd is still very realistic for us.

I don't think that ref favoured Hearts. Celts din't get all the favours they were used to so that upset them. If a team gets shots on target and fail to score it is down to poor shooting, good goalkeeping and good defending, that is not lucky. If a team fails to take numerous chsnces that is bad shooting and not the fault of the opponents so why were Hearts lucky. The penalty was justified. So Celtic fans you don't lose often so take defeat with dignity.

Hope so. That just adds to a perfect day.

What a managerial merry go round we have coming up. Hughes, Benitez, Strachan and Mowbray all sacked.

They will all be eyeing the situation at Tynecastle but I think Lazlo is safe in the meantime.

Oddly enough, Ferguson deserves to be on the dole as well but that won't happen. Relying on Giggs and Scholes has proved to be the fiasco I predicted at the start of the season and incredibly, Giggs has been given another 12 month contract.

Walter was seen heading down the A66 ??

lorry drivers were talking about it on the cb radio and a few of them mentioning spotting him being driven over the A66 and then the A1 ???

Could you tell me roughly which region that would be heading in ??

If not il tell you - Yorkshire !!

well sheffield is only about 4hrs drive from the central belt of scotland.. and if he was spotted at approx 6 pm - then he still has time for a few cigars and brandies with the club he is likely to be visiting !!!

after all he is out off contract - so should attract a decent signing on bonus !!

However i may be wrong... lol

Whatever, Walter will fill an important position.

Realising that the green&grey massez were hijacking his every transfer target Walter played the shrewdest double bluff in Scottish football history.

The leak of target Loobrush was carefully crafted and, as the night follows day, the massez came steamrollering in with a whopping £2.5M bid.

Walter didn't even blink

answer - its quicker to drive to yorkshire than fly down - get there late tonight and have meeting early tomorrow - back in scotland for his pie chips and peas

but then again he dont like peas does he

Talking about songs... try this one, with The Kinks in mind:

We'll beat them here,
We'll beat them there,
They never wash,
Or seem to care,
These plastic paddy imbeciles will always fail the test,
It's the uneducated followers of Celtic

And when New Year
It comes around
They like to boo
The best team in town
Throwing coins at referees, you'd think they were possessed,
It's the uneducated followers of Celtic

Oh yes it is (oh yes it is)
Oh yes it is (oh yes it is)

They love to have a whinge about conspiracies,
They like to zip their neon wasp stye shellsuits right up tight,
It's the uneducated followers of Celtic.

I only saw the second half, live streamed on my computer so I don't know about Celtic 'bossing the game'. It was a good win for the Jambos and a must.I'd be scared to look at the league table if they hadn't won, and given the cluster of clubs just below them, they are still in a perilous place. They are still an average team at best and I'm worried at the yellow card count. I'd hoped the indiscipline had been dealt with.
Good to see the young 'uns getting some playing time. I fear though that as soon as they begin to shine Romanov will be moving them on.
Let's hope for an extended run of better footbal and some much needed points.
