McNamara not ready to quit yet

JACKIE McNamara last night insisted he's not ready to call time on his playing career yet.
The 34-year-old former Celtic skipper brought an end to his short-lived spell at Aberdeen last month after a reported disagreement with gaffer Jimmy Calderwood.

McNamara, who spent a decade at Parkhead before joining Wolves in 2005, had already be
en earmarked as a future coach by the Pittodrie boss.

But the ex-Scotland international is adamant he's not yet ready to draw his playing career to a close.

He said: "Ideally I'd like to play one more year before I hang up my boots. I'd like to enjoy it for another season. It's been a little frustrating and I decided to leave Aberdeen, but I still want to carry on a little longer.

"After playing, coaching is the next step to staying in the game and I'd like to get involved in that. My coaching course starts around the same time as the Phil O'Donnell tribute game at the end of this month, but I wouldn't miss that match for the world."

Dorado takes his case to FIFA

EMMANUEL Dorado has taken his case for unfair dismissal against Livingston owner Pearse Flynn to FIFA.

Dorado was sacked for refusing to take a pay cut when the West Lothian club were relegated from the SPL two years ago. In spite of the SFA and the Scottish League upholding the player's appeal on four separate occasions, however, Livingston have refused to honour the final year of his contract.

The club has had a transfer embargo slapped on them until Dorado has been paid.

Since Flynn has failed to cough up, however, Dorado has gone straight to the top.

"We have written to FIFA's disciplinary committee on Manu's behalf," said PFA Scotland chief Fraser Wishart.

"It could be that they'll take sanctions against the SFA for failing to resolve this issue since Livingston were found to be in the wrong as far back as December, 2006."

The SFA has confirmed that they won't be taking action against Flynn for branding Dorado a "terrorist" at a forum with the club's supporters earlier this year. Dorado wrote to SFA chief executive Gordon Smith complaining about the slur but a spokesman said: "The general purposes committee have discussed this and the matter is closed.

"We have written to Mr Flynn asking him to be more circumspect with his comments in future."

Jefferies expects striker to sign on

KILMARNOCK manager Jim Jefferies expects to tie up the signing of Airdrie United's play-off goal hero Allan Russell (pictured).

"We're a step nearer with Allan – the chairman and his agent are just sorting out the details," said Jefferies. "We're virtually there: we've agreed everything. I'm just waiting until it's all sorted and then we'll get his medical done but all the signs are that he wants to come to us."

Bus to call at Go Ahead Eagles

DAVE Bus will end his Pittodrie hell this summer by joining Go Ahead Eagles.

The defender was brought in by Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood in January in a bid to shore up his defence. The Dons conceded an astonishing 16 goals in his five games for the first team.

Bus has agreed a one-year deal with the Dutch Second Division side with the option of a further year.

I'm sure it was McNamara that decided to leave Aberdeen of his own accord and nothing to do with his body being finished. Decent player in the past but nowhere near good enough for this level anymore.
