RANGERS winger DaMarcus Beasley has revealed that missing out on the Scottish Premier League title on the final day in controversial circumstances has made Walter Smith's squad doubly determined to end Celtic's domination next term.
Rangers had been on course to win four trophies at the start of this month but Celtic took advantage of a tight schedule which saw the Light Blues having to play three league games in the space of six days following their UEFA Cup final loss to Zenit St Petersburg, and it was the Hoops who came out on top in the end.

Beasley – currently with the USA squad preparing for tomorrow night's Wembley friendly with England – is convinced his side had been unfairly treated by administrators who had extended the normal season only slightly.

He said: "Getting the SPL title back from Celtic is definitely the aim. It is always our first priority and now that Celtic have won it three times in a row we want to win it even more.

"It was disappointing to lose it after it came down to the wire and I know that if we hadn't had to play all those games so close together we would have won the championship easily. If they had given us a proper rest time then our boys would have won the SPL."

Controversial?????????

Controversial??????????????????????

What like winning their last seven games while their rivals struggled in all of theirs?

Like playing their games in hand as soon as they could while their rivals saved theirs till the end of the season to provide a fixture backlog as an excuse?

Yeah, controversial indeed.

Oh I understand what he means by "Controversial", yes Rearanger FC, game against lie-low St Mirren & Cheatin against Dundee Unt (asl Craig Lavein).

the tim reaper,

Surely the controversy he speaks of is why Rearangers never played their games in hand at the first available date.
Possibly even questions being asked as to why they were unable to play their home match against East Stirling due to a waterlogged pitch, but then that couldn't have been Rearangers fault could it?

#2
Don't you know that it is perfectly acceptable to play pre split games after the split if you need to work on your goal difference.
As for the Dundee United game. Move along, theres nothing to see.

Controversial as in getting an extension without consulting the rest of the SPL! We feel your pain weasley! No we really do :o)
Had you had a half decent squad you could have handled a few extra games like all the big teams do. But you are not big enough, and the Celts showed their quality to brush you aside. If you are looking for excuses - You sold your best player so murray could get his grubby hands on some much needed cash - try that one.
Here we go for four.

4 of those games were qualifiers for the CL because you didn't win the league last season either.
Oh and 9 of them were in the UEFA cup due to your inability to negotiate the CL group stages.

So a lot of these games were down to Rearangers failures and no one else.

They nearly did play 68 matches if you add both their total games played this season.

#10..the spl did help rangers..they postponed the gretna game and put back the league by4 days..you can argue they could have done more (although noone has said what they could have done which would not have disadvantaged other teams)..but you cant say rthey did nothing xxx
and again look at your away form for the real reason you lost the league...

Yes it was a failure to reach the UEFA Cup final this year, much like the tic did in 2003, how many trophies did you win that year when going for a quad??????

No argument from me, the better team over 38 matches always wins the league.

The league is over, celtic won it. Opinions will always be divided over the 'sporting integrity' given how things panned out. As a Rangers fan, I am happy with the double, a feat which as the records show betters that of sceptics Seville Legends, who won precisely F--- ALL!!! with what was after all a far superior squad with 1 world class player. So on balance, I can truly say I am satisfied.
Oh and other facts regarding the fixtures, Gretna game - Played the Following midweek, no impact. St mirren - water logged LOVE ST, so how was that ours, SFA/SPL refused to allow game to be played on a free international weekend as Scotland were meeting up for a chat, Motherwell - we all saw the state of Fir Park, again how was that down to us? Were Walter and Ally doing a raindance? C'mon, you won the league yet still you hint at conspiracies? You really cant bear the fact that you hate us more than you love your own club can you?
And the only reason the league was extended for 4 days was even you lot couldnt justify squeezing them in over the course of 1 week, far fairer to do it in a week and a half! Succeeded in scuppering the league, largely down to our own form at that time but fatigue played its part, failed miserabley with the cups. I look forward to next season, can you say the same?

#18 i thought you were kidding when you quoted advocaat ferguson and smith as evidence of rangers being badly treated by the spl..as ive said and in a totally non wind up manner,,..what could the spl have done that would not have disadvantaged other teams ??
i honestly havent seen one rational proposal.

#23 again you dont say what could have been done that would not have disadvantaged any other clubs

Royalty,
your onto a loser to expect them to agree, best just laugh at the phuds!
If it had been the other way they would be screaming for a private investigator/psychological profile/judicial inquiry/FAI/etc/etc 'cos it shows ivurrybuddiz against ra hoops!' FFS sporting integrity indeed.
Just celebrate that our double trumps their seville legends hee-haw in 2003, on reflection its rather quaint that they hate us so much they cant admit that point!

Controversial, because 8 games in 0 days was unheard of but once with Manchester United, who at the time at a squad of 30 players of world class stature.

I fully agree with what he says, and expect rangers to win the league next season with games to play because of this season, and the promise showed when Celtic used the late O'Donnells death as an excuse for a postponment, and our 7 pt lead with a game at hand.

Had we not been so well this year in all our competitions, we would have won it, but i wont make excuses like the green and greys do when they lose, we'll get on with it.

Now onto the topic of United being cheated at Ibrox. Why was it Rangers who cheated them, when it was a referee whos errors cost them? also, what guarantees did Dundee Utd have of beating or drawing that game? The goal would have brought it to 3-2, and htep enalty he may never have scored anyway.

Also, we never seemed to hear about all these errors when Aberdeen had a legit goal called off at Celtic, or when Cousin scored a goal onside back in October but got wrongly called off, or how about in the CIS final when Darcheville scored but it was deemed offside when it wasent?.

For every excuse someone has, i am pretty confident i'll have a counter argument to go with it.

that was 8 games in 30 days above.

Did Middlesbrough play a 68 game season?

Now that the season is over I am more interested in what new players WS will be looking to bring in.

I just hope the running chicken without a head KM. is not one of them, even for a free transfer.

Brian I never really rated Miller but I admit he did add something to the team.

Who do you think RFC will sign - I heard they are after Danny Shittu of watford and Kyle Lafferty of Burnley - two decent players but I am not sure gers can afford them.

#32..hey your a decent football fan so prepare to be shocked...
boro played 64 games in season 2005/6..ok not 68 but pretty close..and they played an incredible 10 games in 27 days in april and 4 games in 9 dsays in may..or in april and may they played 14 games in 38 days..and poor gers had to play 8 games in 30 days..no other league ..etc etc..get over it guys and try and improve your away form xxx

4 Daillyman, I made this post today before I left for T.O., where can I meet up with you for a beer and give you two OF tickets money. And yes you are correct, had Celtic lost the league I would have been bitching all summer, however since they won, I will only complain until August.
