LEADERS Cowdenbeath got back to winning ways when they saw off Montrose 2-1 last night to end a run of four successive matches without a win.
Danny Lennon's men extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points with East Stirlingshire idle.

Dumbarton overtook Shire into second after a last-gasp 1-1 draw at Albion Rovers.

Cowdenbeath got off to a flying start at Central Par
k when John Gemmell netted his eighth goal of the season after only four minutes, and the big striker was not hanging about to grab his ninth when he scored again 14 minutes later. Montrose player-coach Jamie McKenzie scored his second goal in two games as a trialist to reduce the deficit in 27 minutes.

Albion ended a run of three defeats in a row with their draw, although after conceding an injury-time leveller it may well feel like a defeat for Paul Martin's team. Bobby Barr had scored with only 11 minutes gone to put the Coatbridge side ahead, only for Sons substitute Ross Clarke to equalise.

Berwick Rangers lost 2-0 at home to Forfar Athletic. On-loan Dundee United striker Jonny Russell opened the scoring midway through the second half, with Ross Campbell clinching the win with six minutes to go. Dick Campbell's men are now undefeated in six games and may have a say in the promotion chase.
