The visitors made the perfect start when, after 18 minutes, Lee Hoolickin's netbound header was cleared by Kevin Neilson only for Annan's Phil Storey to ruthlessly slam home the rebound.
However, Athletic's lead lasted a mere seven minutes as East Stirling's Andy Rodgers equalised in impressive style, drilling the ball low into the net.

Forfar 4FORFAR eased past bottom club Elgin at Borough Briggs to keep alive their play-off hopes.
The unfortunate Paul Kaczan deflected a Johnny Russell shot into his own net in the 11th minute.
Stephen Tulloch headed home a second for the Loons in the 26th minute to make Forfar comfortable.
Ross Campbell made it 3-0 with eight minutes to go, before setting up Russell to get a simple fourth. Darren Shallicker netted a late consolation for Elgin.

Stenhousemuir 3MONTROSE took the points in a goal-fest at Links Park.
Player-boss Steven Tweed gave the home side an early lead, and it was doubled inside 15 minutes as Craig O'Reilly smashed home.
Stenhousemuir got one back in 57 minutes through Robert Love, only for O'Reilly to restore the cushion in 71. With 10 minutes left Roddy Hunter grabbed a quick brace to make it 5-1, before John Ovenstone and Love again grabbed two consolations.
