CARLTON II remain top of Baillie Gifford East League Division One after a two-wicket win at Glenrothes, writes GARY HEATLY.
The win, added to last weekend's win over Grange II and the 20 points awarded from the match against Freuchie II following the use of first XI players by the latter, leaves the Capital men at the summit. It was a hard-fought win over Glenrothes, thou
gh. The visitors bowled out the hosts for 142, with Nathan Pietsch taking 4-15 and Tom Clarke and Australian Brad McKay grabbing three wickets each.

In reply, Carlton II were indebted to 29 from Nav Siddique and 28 not out from man of the match Pietsch to see them home in a tense finale, although Glenrothes will be ruing a number of dropped catches.

Elsewhere in Division One, Edinburgh Accies posted 169-7 against Murrayfield DAFS and the latter were 19-0 when the rain came while Watsonians II's game at Fauldhouse also started but failed to finish as did Heriot's II against Holy Cross.

In one of the few matches in the East Leagues to reach a conclusion, Haddington got their second win of the season in Division Three thanks to a sensational bowling effort from young Matthew Blades.

The 14-year-old took 7-22 to rip through Drummond Trinity's batting and help bowl them out for just 114 at Neilson Park. The East Lothian side had earlier knocked up 157 from their innings, meaning they won by 43 runs in the end.
