THOUGH just turned 20, Preston Mommsen is one of the main reasons RH Corstorphine are challenging strongly for promotion and, indeed, are the only side who have not lost a league game this season.
The young South African carried his bat for the fourth time, against Dumfries last Saturday, and is now averaging 78. "Preston is as good a young batsman as I have seen in my time in the game," said club president Arnie Sathiy.

That's a glowing testimony and Mommsen's 83 not out steered RHC to their seventh victory, the other three matches being no results.

"Preston is cricket mad and, while I would love to have him back here next year, I'm sure he will be going on to bigger and better things," added Sathiy.

Stoneywood-Dyce, two points ahead of RHC, but now one behind leaders Dunfermline after their loss to the Fifers, are away to Renfrew. Dunfermline have a chance to extend their lead with a home fixture against Edinburgh CC, while Falkland are engaged in a must-win home game against Weirs, and Dumfries host Prestwick.
