GRANGE opener Gregor Maiden today paid tribute to the experience of Stuart Davidson after the latter put in another super performance with the ball to help see off SNCL Premier Division title rivals Greenock on Saturday.
The Capital side won at Glenpark by 65 runs against last year's champions to get their season back on track after the home loss to Ayr.
They had knocked up 219-5 from their 50 overs, with Scotland batsman Neil McCallum the mainstay with 80, before
bowling out the beleaguered hosts for 154.
Seamer Davidson took the three key wickets of pro Tim McIntosh, Sean Weeraratna and Richie Berrington and he has now taken nine wickets already this season.
Maiden said: "Davo was our player of the year last year and he has continued where he left off. His bowling on Saturday was superb and he is great to have in the side.
"Special mention too must go to Andy Wilson who took five wickets and bowled really well. We were all determined to forget about the Ayr loss with a good win and captain Sanjay Patel had us well up for the game."
Elsewhere in the top flight, Watsonians had got to 160-1 against Clydesdale at Myreside before the rain came. Still it gave the bottom side's batsmen some valuable time at the crease, Euan Stubbs hitting 80 not out, Ryan Flannigan getting 42 and pro Andy Delmont 20 not out.
In the First Division Penicuik lost by eight wickets at Forfarshire to leave the Midlothian men second bottom.
Pro Mohammad Ramzan top scored with 85 for Stuart Chalmers' side, but it was not enough as they were all out for 165.
Seamer Andy Gamble was again in the wickets for SMRH, but their match against Dunfermline was not played to a finish due to the weather.
Following on from his 3-32 in defeat to RH Corstorphine last weekend the young Englishman took Gowtham Rai's wicket before play was halted with the hosts on 100-2.
RH Corstorphine were in a bit of bother against Stoneywood-Dyce until the weather saved them. The Capital side were 115-7 at home, Kevin McLaren top scoring with 38, when the match was stopped.
And Edinburgh were thumped by 157 runs by Falkland at Scroggie Park. The hosts made 262-6 from their allotted overs, before Edinburgh were skittled out for just 105 to leave them sixth in the table after a promising start.
