RYAN Watson, the former Scotland captain, hit a superb 140 not out to surpass Pakistani legend Sajid Ali's SNCL ton tally.
His heroics pushed Forfarshire firmly into promotion contention and left Arbroath licking their wounds following a one-sided clash at Forthill.

Watson, already the highest scorer in SNCL history, now boasts seventeen centuries.

The latest one
was laced with boundaries and also five huge sixes, his unbeaten 140 coming from only 106 balls.

His effort helped Forfarshire post 266-4 before Arbroath were skittled for 103, Graeme Black and Henry Phillip each claiming three wickets for the hosts.

Elsewhere, leaders Stirling proved much too strong for neighbours Stenhousemuir in their derby encounter at New Williamfield.

James Miller was the home hero, stroking a superb 111, but the visitors contributed to their own downfall with 69 Extras in a total of 286-3.

Former Scotland opener Iain Philip was Stenhousemuir's top scorer with 24 but Kabir Khan, the Afghan national coach, claimed 3-6 in a 201-run rout.

Zaheed Mohammed's brilliant unbeaten 121 piled the misery on Ferguslie who remain rooted to the bottom of the table after Drumpellier's easy 84-run win at Meikleriggs. Poloc continue to plunge down the table after slumping to a 127-run defeat to Stoneywood-Dyce at Shawholm.

Jan Stander top-scored with 78, his middle-order partnership with Stuart Coetzer (43) taking the visitors to 212-8.

Skipper Elton Willemse then claimed four wickets and Scott Redhead three as Poloc's reply fizzled out on 85.
