SCOTLAND won the men's World Curling Championship after David Murdoch clinched a 8-6 extra-time victory over Canada's Kevin Martin.
It came down to the last rock in the 10th end of the final to break a 6-6 tie at the Moncton Arena in New Brunswick, Canada.

It is a second world title in four years for Murdoch, 31. His team-mate Ewan MacDonald said: "Unbelievable. We beat these guys three times in three days, but that's what we train for.

"It's absolutely unbelievable."

Martin said: "It's never easy to lose, especially when you have the hammer but they made the shots and got us in big trouble."

Norway took bronze in the men's competition after beating Switzerland.

Great come from behind victory by Team Murdoch yesterday, beating the Canadians in their own backyard no less!

I wonder if the 'great' BBC Scotland has plans to amend it's late-night schedule one night this coming week to squeeze in a highlights programme from the World Championships?

I send this in the knowledge that the answer is likely to be a resounding NO, but thought that it would be best to air the question nonetheless.

This being the case, I and others without Satellite TV access will ahve to go online to Eurosport and pay the subscription charge to watch the replayed Final!

Edinburgh Lost, qhite right! I was able to watch the curling on Eurosport and also on Swiss television, it also got full coverage despite the fact that Switzerland came fourth.

What coverage was there on the BBC? None
What news was there on the BBC? None
What coverage was there onthe BBC website? NONE!

This is an absolute disgrace, especially when you consider how much coverage has just been given to the Masters golf, where not a single British player was in with a chance!

How can we encourage people to get interested in any sport, especially one such as curling, when it is so thoroughly ignored by those who could and should be showing it...

Because curling it pretty boring. Great win though , superb stuff form the Scottish lads.

The Scotsman's coverage was just as bad. World championships are few and far between and the Scotsman's editors blew this one big time.
I guess it wasn't "British" enough for them.
Huge drama in the 10th end including Martin deliberately throwing his first stone through the house.
What a shame.

I'm still a Scot although I have lived here in Canada for the past 18 years & am an avid curler. This victory for the Murdoch team is just amazing! Until this event The Martin team was unbeatable, they thought so & so did the country & the Canadian press. They went unbeaten throughout the Canadian men's Brier. Like the comments prior the British/ Scotish media just doesn't get it. Curling to the non curler may look easy or even boring but I challenge you to throw a rock and see how intensely difficult curling at this level is.

Congrats. to the Murdoch team....can't wait for the excitment of the Olympics, this has truely put 'the wind up' the Canadians.

As a Canadian I was pleased to see Murdoch win. Canadian curlers seem to believe that they are the best and should win all the time. I must admit that I didn't expect him to win a third game after beating Martin twice. Murdoch was clearly the best curler under presure -- he has nerves of steel!
As for the coverage of curling -- here in Canada curling is popular on television, which frustrates many "tradional" sports commentators -- outdrawing basketball and baseball. If properly presented it can be very dramatic television. Its a shame that Scots didn't get to watch last night's dramatic final live like we did here.
Congrats to Murdoch

Good for the Scotsman to report a Scottish success

It seems neither the Glasgow Herald or the Aberdeen Journal reported this either

Comment 2 shows the BBC in it's true colors

I would be surprized if Sky News reported this either (althou I have not checked)
But I would be surprized - delighted but surprized

Why all these media outputs are so fixed on that pathetic, boring skill-less game they called football.
Maybe it is time they looked in the mirror......
Scotland cannot play that game........
Why waste our resources on it.....

Let them talk all they want about it
They are good at talking
But they will not solve anything.......

Meanwhile real Scottish sport success stories go by and large unreported

and they call themselves (the BBC is worst of all here) world-class

It is pretty amusing isn't it

The whole game can be watched on TSN.ca
It also has a highlights clip.
The boys were on the Six O'Clock News- you mean you want more?
Still can't believe that they beat them 3 times in a row.
