AYR United head the pack of four clubs sitting on eight points at the top, but manager Brian Reid knows his side could have edged ahead at the top by two points as they were two goals up after only 11 minutes of their visit to Stirling Albion, eventually having to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Former Aberdeen, Inverness and Airdrie striker Bryan Prunty took advantage of poor defending to net twice in the space of two minutes,

but Stirling got back into the game quickly when youngster Nathan Taggart scored in 19 minutes. And Ian Harty
equalised with a penalty after being brought down in the area by Alan Dempsie.

Reid said: "Although this is not an easy place to come, it feels like two points dropped as we should have killed the game off after going two ahead."

Peterhead are level with Ayr thanks to a 1-0 win over bottom side Alloa, Stuart Anderson scoring in the eighth minute.

Raith Rovers are also on eight points thanks to a late, late 2-1 win at home to Stranraer.

Marc Campbell headed the Kirkcaldy side ahead in seven minutes only for the impressive Gregory Tade to equalise midway through the first half. Stranraer looked like taking a share of the points until on-loan Dundee United striker Kevin Smith notched an injury-time winner.

Barry Douglas excelled for Queen's Park in a 1-1 draw at home to Brechin, who complete the quartet at the top. The youngster hit a stunning free-kick from 19 yards seven minutes from time to earn his side a draw. Brechin had gone ahead just before the hour through Gary Twigg.

East Fife got their season going when Kevin Fotheringham netted a late winner against Arbroath with a superbly hit curling free kick from 20 yards for a 1-0 victory.
