AIRDRIE United manager Kenny Black believes the resilience of his side throughout this season will see them through their First Division play-off final with Clyde.
Airdrie host John Brown's First Division strugglers tonight without Steven McKenna and Stephen MacDougall, the latter having undergone surgery on his Achilles yesterday. However, Black feels his players are used to rolling with the blows.
"For a
full-time team, we have operated this year with a small squad of players and it is to the players' credit we are close to our aim of bouncing back to the First Division within a season. We have had to play players out of their normal position and sometimes when they have not been 100 per cent fit so to still be competing in the final week is great."
Black, who can call upon Steven Campbell for tonight's first leg, is looking for his side to ensure they end tonight's home match with the tie swinging in Airdrie's favour. "It would be great to take some kind of advantage to Broadwood on Saturday," he said.
Clyde welcome back the inspirational figure of Jorg Albertz to their midfield with the player jetting into Glasgow this morning. Club captain Neil McGregor sits this one out through suspension however he is available for Saturday's second leg.
Dave McKay has put himself in the frame for inclusion after scoring all Clyde's goals in a 4-1 Reserve League Cup final victory over Livingston.
" Dave has certainly caught my eye with that performance," said Brown, who has no new injury worries.
