FOLLOWING an uneventful first half, the game sprang to life with the dismissal of Steven Nicol on the stroke of half time. Alloa had earlier missed a penalty when Andy Gibson blasted over, and it was Gregory Tade who fired Stranraer ahead after 49 minutes.
But four goals in eight minutes saw Alloa take control with Kyle McAulay netting twice either side of goals from Scott Buist and Graeme Brown. Andy Scott completed the rout.
Arbroath 1
Stirling Albion 2STIRLING came from be
hind to seal all three points, and they were forced to hold on for the final half-hour following the dismissal of Mark Docherty.
Scott Gates fired Arbroath in front after 20 minutes.
But John O'Neil netted his second goal of the season to get the Binos back on level terms five minutes later. David McKenna netted the winner with a fine low finish just after the interval.
Ayr United 2
Queen's Park 1BRYAN Prunty maintained his excellent goalscoring run as Ayr held on for victory over the Spiders.
Prunty opened the scoring with only ninety seconds on the clock when he headed home from an excellent Willie Easton cross. He netted again to double Ayr's lead after 26 minutes.
Tony Quinn got the Spiders back into the game at the start of the second half with a fine finish. But Queens failed to find an equaliser.
East Fife 0
Brechin City 0EAST Fife were unfortunate not to secure their first home win of the season after dominating for long spells at New Bayview.
Jonathan Smart went close to firing the Fifers in front after 16 minutes, but saw his downward header well saved by Craig Nelson.
Nelson produced two further saves after the interval to secure a share of the points for Brechin. The veteran denied Bobby Linn with a fine fingertip save before another acrobatic stop denied Paul McManus.
Peterhead 1
Raith Rovers 2RAITH maintained their unbeaten start.
Gareth Wardlaw opened the scoring for Rovers from a tight angle after eight minutes. But it was far from one-way traffic and the Blue Toon levelled just before the hour mark when Stuart Anderson headed home Craig Gunn's cross.
Kevin Smith restored Raith's advantage against the run of play after 72 minutes and Peterhead were denied a share of the points when Bobby Mann missed a late penalty.
