AIRDRIE United rode their luck to escape with three points from Somerset Park after a late penalty winner. Eddie Forrest opened the scoring for Ayr early on when he headed in a corner from Ryan Stevenson.
Five minutes later, David Gillies equalised for Airdrie after Kevin Watt cut the ball back from the right.
Airdrie struck 14 minutes from time when Marco Andreoni scored from the penalty spot after Murray Henderson had fouled Stuart Noble.

BRECHIN City and Ross County shared six goals in a thriller. The champions took the lead after ten minutes through Michael Gardyne.
Brechin scored five minutes from the break when Neil Janczyk sent Darren Smith clear and he produced a crisp finish.
Janczyk then put Brechin in front to make it 3-1 after an hour.
But County hit back with an Andy Barrowman header and an equaliser from David Winters.

Queen's Park 0
COWDENBEATH go into the relegation play-offs in spite of edging Queen's Park 1-0.
Denis McLaughlin scored three minutes into the second half, shooting home with his left foot from the corner of the six-yard box.
Pat Scullion almost made it 2-0 with a 30-yard shot which slipped just wide of target.
Midfielder John O'Neil had to make a goal-line clearance to prevent John Neill equalising with a header.

PETERHEAD missed out on the play-offs despite a win at Stark's Park.
A David Goodwillie penalty put Raith in front. Martin Bavidge equalised then Mann put Peterhead in front from the penalty spot. Lee Bryce scrambled home an equaliser on his debut but Peterhead finished strongly.
David Ross put them ahead again after 68 minutes and then scored again eight minutes later before Graham Sharp completed the scoring.
