ARBROATH remain in dispute with Hearts over the Andy Webster sell-on fee after the Tynecastle club yesterday failed to pay the full amount.
The Angus outfit received around £15,000 as part of the £150,000 Wigan paid Hearts for the player in summer 2006. However, the amount deposited into the second division club's bank was minus interest amounting to about £450.

Arbroath secretary Gary Callon said: "It could simply be an oversight from Hearts' point of view but they have not been paid interest on the amount."

If indeed this sell-on clause applies even when the player is not sold and he resigns and is then forced to pay compensation to his employer, why did Arbroath VERY quickly accept a reduced amount from what they first requested?

Answer's clear - they didn't have a legal right to the cash and Hearts were good enough (I suspect Campbell Ogilvie's hand) to provide some compensation anyhow as the small clubs are important to the game.

Arbroath have constantly gone on about how important this money is to them so I don't think they would have willingly given up cash if they were actually due it. So it's a bit rich for them to complain to the SFA etc.

Point of note, Hearts were awarded 650,000 and Webster's appeal cost them a lot more cash - maybe as much as 50,000. Why are they not pursuing Webster for this?

#3 By them I mean why are Arbroath not on to Webster for compensation as his actions cost them a lot more than 450 quid.
