ARBROATH confirmed their place in the play-offs despite losing 2-1 at league champions East Fife.

Arbroath went ahead against the run of play in the 21st minute through Paul Lunan.

East Fife missed a penalty through Dougie Cameron before half time but were awarded another in the second half, and this time Paul McManus converted confidently.

Ten minutes from time McManus put an angled drive past Ally Ridgers.

Elgin City 2

MONTROSE killed off Elgin's promotion hopes with a dramatic 3-2 win.

Montrose opened the scoring inside 11 minutes as John Baird finished from close range.

Steven MacKay equalised three minutes before the break with a free kick but Montrose went back in front in the 69th minute with a John Baird penalty before Paul Kaczan's 89th minute leveller.

A stunning volley from Jay Stein in stoppage time won it for Montrose.

Stenhousemuir 2

Forfar Athletic 0

STENHOUSEMUIR ran out comfortable winners at Ochilview against lowly Forfar Athletic.

The hosts took the lead after six minutes when striker John Baird slammed home Paul Stewart's swirling cross.

Forfar's best chance fell to Michael Stuart in the 67th minute but his fierce shot was smartly tipped over by Ali Brown.

The Warriors sealed the three points when Ian Harty netted an 84th minute penalty.

Stranraer 3

Albion Rovers 0

STRANRAER demolished Albion Rovers by three goals to nil in a one-sided affair at Stair Park.

The hosts went ahead after 28 minutes when Stephen McConnalogue finished from close range and added a second in the 75th minute. Alex White scored with a powerful header from a Andy Gibson corner.

Gibson was again the provider for Stranraer's third as his cross was tapped in by Ian Dobbins two minutes from time.
