ARBROATH and East Stirling were stunned when their Third Division clash at Gayfield was postponed just 90 minutes before kick-off.
Arbroath will now protest to the SFA about the decision by referee Willie Hornby after the official decided the match could not go ahead due to a frozen pitch.

Chairman John Christison said: "We are really unhappy and will be making an official c
omplaint."

Shire secretary Les Thomson added: "I looked at the condition of the park myself and, as far as I am concerned, there was no reason to put it off."

Meanwhile, runaway leaders East Fife fell to only their second league defeat of the season after losing 2-1 to Stenhousemuir, whose manager John Coughlin said: "I warned the players that they would have to turn in their best performance of the season and they did just that."

East Fife took the lead with a superb strike by Greig McDonald after ten minutes. However, Willie Lyle drove in the equaliser shortly before half-time and Steve Ferguson headed the winner after 62 minutes.

Montrose continued their bid for a play-off place with a comfortable 3-1 win over Dumbarton.

Two goals from John Baird, one from the penalty spot, and another from Gary Wood, put Montrose 3-0 up before Robert Campbell knocked in a late consolation for Dumbarton.
