Feeney vows to gun down boyhood heroes
DUNDEE UNITED'S new striker Warren Feeney has vowed to shoot down his heroes Rangers when the two sides meet in the new season.
The 27-year-old Cardiff player followed Bluebirds team-mate Willo Flood when he signed a year-long loan deal with the Tannadice club yesterday. Northern Ireland international Feeney, a self-proclaimed Rangers fan who went to Manchester to see Walter Smith's side play Zenit St Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final last season, is desperate to pit his wits against the Ibrox men and their rivals Celtic.
He said: "Now I can look forward to playing Rangers at Ibrox in October and against Celtic at Parkhead in January. That would be brilliant – I'll need no extra motivation. Facing Rangers is going to be weird because I'm a big Teddy Bears fan and was in Manchester at the UEFA Cup final and at Parkhead for the last Old Firm game but I'm a professional and it will be my job to help Dundee United beat them."
Feeney, who has two years left on his Cardiff contract, is keen to put last season's injury troubles behind him. "This is what my career needs," he said.
