DUNDEE United manager Craig Levein may have to wait until August to discover whether he faces action over his stinging criticism of referee Mike McCurry.
The SFA's general purposes committee yesterday discussed Levein's comments following United's 3-1 defeat at Rangers on 10 May, but no firm outcome emerged.

Levein claimed McCurry had "bottled" major decisions after the referee denied United a stro
ng penalty claim and disallowed a goal for offside.

The governing body may be in touch with Levein and United over the controversy but it could be 4 August, when the committee members next meet, that details emerge.

After the meeting finished in the early evening, an SFA spokesman said: "Several of the issues that were discussed at today's general purposes committee have yet to be fully resolved.

"As such, it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage."

Levein was furious when Noel Hunt was denied a penalty after being felled by David Weir, and Danny Swanson then had a goal disallowed for offside after his long-range shot deflected off the Rangers defender.

He said: "Anybody who is of a fair mind who watched that today would see that we had no chance of winning that."

McCurry admitted he had made mistakes but

United last week said they would seek legal advice after SFA president George Peat described Levein's accusations as "criminal".

#1 Whilst I agree with your assessment of what happens it's clearly cheating the fans out of a fair game. As if the financial power of the great unwashed isn't enough of an advantage for them.

The SFA will of course pretend that this doesn't happen as it would open a can of worms for them. However, it's good to see manager not being afraid to say what we already know.

Perhaps that might start to change things if referees start being called to account if they lack the "bottle" to do their job.

Cammy - absolutely correct. Actually, it's a moot point whether the referee is genuinely old firm biased, is afraid to make decisions in front of a large crowd, or whether they are simply incompetant. One way or another it's wrong and needs to change. It's a farce otherwise.

So the SFA themselves have now bottled it. Surely the second paragraph in the article should have finished "but no old firm outcome emerged."?

So George Peat reckons it is "criminal" to question the integrity of a man who professes deep Christian faith, is a preacher in his church yet can cheat on his wife and family by sneaking off to a car park to have sex with a 21 yr old Sunday school teacher?
Do us a favour, George!

If only the first paragraph could read

"SFA ref Mike McCurry may have to wait until August to discover whether he faces action over his appalling bias in favour of Rangers."

Aye - dream on.

#1 That's a pathetic excuse. Are you telling me that an English ref or a foreign ref would have given the exact same decisions as McCurry & his assistants?

Don McVicar has ENSURED that the SPL is populated by West Coast referees so is it any surprise that the OF get decisions? If you are interested enough in football to become a referee in the West of Scotland I would suggest it's highly likely that you will have supported Celtic or Rangers for about 20 years before you start down the road of becoming a referee.

I'd REALLY like to meet a Rangers or Celtic fan of 20 years that would NOT be biased towards their team. Does such an animal even exist?

When Barry Ferguson goes through an entire SPL season without being booked, can grab an Aberdeen player by the throat without any action being taken and can turn into a harlem globetrotter to score a goal at Hampden (10 yards from a referee) is it any wonder that fans and managers question the integrity of our officials?

#7 - what mince! ANY referee, whether from the west coast or not, could have an allegiance to a team but its about us having a degree of trust in the officials. i believe they are impartial, but also pretty incompetent (maybe thats unfair, its a very tough job, and not one i'd ever want).

are you happy for instance with all the refereeing decisions that go against the scottish national team? does that mean there is an international anti-scottish agenda? try and not let your dislike of rangers/celtic cloud your view.

and is there really any truth in barry ferguson not being yellow carded this season? i can recall BF being sent off in old firm games and the like, in years gone past, so how does that fit in with such a theory? and as for a hand-ball - i could point you to two similar incidents that went against rangers in the same game, as well as lots of unpunished "player by the throat" judgements from last season

Was the linesman who awarded Rangers the ridiculous last minute penalty at Tynecastle a few years back when the Greek guy threw himself to the ground with nobody near him being influenced by the large and noisy Hearts support, or was he making sure the 'gers didn't drop any points?

SFA slap on the wrist coming up for Levein?

SFA £50,000 fine for Vlads boy?

Even handed treatment for Hearts from the SFA - aye right!!!

Yes all refs are biased in favour of Rangers, face the truth of the masonic plot to take over the world!
Look at the evidence, Robson on Dailly 1st mminute of 1st OF game at Parkhead, Hartley on Mcculloch/Ferguson/Weir/Cuellar same game, Hartley on Ferguson 2nd OF game at parkhead, Vinegar of castlemilk on Faye/Novo/Darcheville 2nd of game, the 'basketball' friendly, no mention of the several handballs before the ferguson incident, could go on citing several incidents over the years, consider this, Why is usually 2 or 3 rangers players, normally our talented wingers/forwards who end up with serious injuries following challeneges which at best get a free kick? Every year guanateed at least 1 cruciate ligament injury and 2 or 3 serious others as a result of the challenges of Sportingly Integred Opponents in the Scottish Game, and I dont just mean the mhankies there. FFS, if scottish football is so stitched up in favour of rangers then how the f--k do you explain how our last 2 weeks were handled? And please dont come the whole its your own fault/gretna line, that game was played before christmas.
You talk of cheating and bias then point at us? Your the same lot that call us bigots then its all F----n b------/or--ge c----s when your at parkhead or ibrox. I believe the word is Hippocrites?

So the SFA bottled their decision....
They want to let the dust settle and hope to get away with a quiet smack on the wrist....
It is truly amazing to see the OF supporters list their grieveances about decisions that did not go their way....
And #11 the word is hypocrites...unless you mean Hippocrates....but then it does not make sense but why start in your last sentence....
