EDINBURGH CAPITALS ice hockey star Dino Bauba has moved along the M8 to join Paisley Pirates as player/director of hockey, writes NIGEL DUNCAN.
The forward's moves comes in the wake of the resignation of Fife-based Bobby Haig, who guided Pirates last season.

Bauba is returning to a familiar rink as he scored 97 goals and recorded 87 assists for Pirates in his first season in Britain in 1993.

The man from Kaunas in Lithuania then spent five seasons with Scottish Eagles in the Superleague before moving onto Bracknell Bees, Dundee Stars and then Edinburgh Capitals.

Bauba spent most of last season on the sidelines with a groin injury but Pirates' Glenrothes-based managing director Allan Paul said: "A close friend in hockey suggested Dino. I contacted him late on Friday night and met with him on Saturday to thrash out a package and I'm delighted to have him on board."

Edinburgh Capitals general manager Scott Neil said: "I know Dino will relish this challenge.

"I think he'll be a great addition for the development of the Pirates organisation and wish him well in his new role."
