KYLE HORNE today put pen to paper for a third season with ambitious Edinburgh Capitals but the Kirkcaldy-based defenceman has also been issued with a challenge.
Capitals director of ice hockey Doug Christiansen wants to see the Great Britain international find the opposition net more often.

Last season, the former Fife Flyers player scored four goals and collected eight assists from 63 games – not enough
according to the team playcaller.

And Christiansen said: "Kyle is one of the top defenders in the United Kingdom.

"He is a national team player but he is also a well-liked teammate.

"Kyle brings us a great locker-room presence and is a player who is willing to do whatever is asked of him. He brings us depth and security to our blueline."

And Christiansen added: "A quality British defender is a very important commodity and we have one of the best.

"Kyle always has a smile on his face and is a pleasure to be around but I'm looking for Kyle to add more offensively this year and give us a few key goals.

"He has the ability to be a top-level player in this league and I'm pleased to have a proven Great Britain international, who was in the squad for this year's World Championships, back in our squad."

Horne said: "I hope to be able to continue to improve and make a difference for the Capitals this coming season."
