BLUNDERING Edinburgh Monarchs speedway bosses have delivered an amazing snub to teenage ace Tai Woffinden.
The Rye House Rockets star was expected to be one of the first names on the invitation list for Friday's Scottish Open Championship at Armadale, but today Monarchs promoter John Campbell admitted: "He wasn't sent an invite."

Woffinden made his Scottish Open debut in 2007 and finished a brilliant third behind winner Daniel Nermark and Kevin Doolan.

Said Campbell: "Tai wasn't on our original list, and now I can't see why he wasn't. There is no good reason for it.

"When we sent out the invitation list it went to riders who had performed well at Armadale recently."

Yet Woffinden scored 17 points for Rye House in their Premier League visit to Armadale earlier this month.

Woffinden, who will guest for Workington Comets against Monarchs in their Sky televised meeting on August 11 at Armadale, did receive a last-minute invite to replace one of four riders who have pulled out of the Championship, but the 17-year old is racing in Sweden.

Defending champion Nermark and Workintgon team-mate Carl Stonehewer, plus Monarchs heat leader William Lawson, are all injured.
