A GANG wearing fancy dress launched an attack on the Elgin City Football Club captain as he was on a night out.
David Hind, 26, who has since left the club, was left with a suspected broken nose after youths assaulted him and his team-mate, Craig Campbell, 24, in Inverness.
Alan Coe, 23, Sean Henny, 18, Daniel Finlay, 18, and Taran Campbell, 22, admitted assault at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday. The two footballers had returned to Inverness last August after the side lost a Third Division match against Montrose.
As they made their way from a bar into the town centre they were confronted by the gang. All four accused, wearing a variety of fancy dress, repeatedly struck Mr Hind on the head, pulled him to the ground, punched him on the head and body, kicked and stamped on his body and sat on top of him. Coe and Campbell also assaulted Craig.
Sheriff Ian Abercrombie ordered the four to carry out a total of 638 hours of community service.
