Barton avoids jail for Dabo assault
JOEY Barton will get a chance to plead for his Newcastle future after escaping a further jail term.
Barton, 25, was given a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting assault on former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo during a training session on 1 May last year. Barton is currently serving six months in jail for assault and affray.
