GOALS in each half from Chris Killen and Barry Robson gave Celtic a 2-0 victory over Southampton in Claus Lundekvam's testimonial at St Mary's last night.
Killen gave the Scottish Premier League champions a 26th-minute lead when he finished low, left-footed, following good work by Scott McDonald.
Robson doubled the advantage emphatically from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Georgios Sama
ras – who earlier this week sealed a permanent move from Manchester City – had been brought down in the box by Andrew Surman. Samaras went close to a third goal before former Saints favourite Matthew Le Tissier came on in the 76th minute, to the delight of the majority of the crowd of 18,664.
Celtic play Fulham at Craven Cottage this afternoon.
Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion have completed the £3.25 million signing of England international Scott Carson from Liverpool. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who played in 35 Barclays Premier League games for Aston Villa last season, has penned a four-year contract. The club also have the option of adding another year to the deal.
Carson could cost the club £3.75m depending on performance-related criteria. His arrival takes West Brom manager Tony Mowbray's summer spending on transfers to £13.75m after the signings of Roman Bednar, Luke Moore, Do-heon Kim, Graham Dorrans, Gianni Zuiverloon and Marek Cech.
England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson named Carson in his 2006 World Cup squad and he made two B international appearances for his country before being handed his senior debut in a 1-0 friendly win over Austria in November. Five days later, with regular number one Paul Robinson out of form, he was thrown in at the deep end in a make-or-break Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia, but his competitive debut ended in misery as England slumped to a 3-2 defeat, with Carson culpable for the Croats' first goal.
Stoke have signed striker Dave Kitson from Reading for a club record £5.5m. The 28-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to become Potters boss Tony Pulis' first summer signing.
Kitson scored 54 goals in 111 appearances for Reading but has decided to move on following their relegation from the Premier League.
