THE red mist descended on the Barclays Premier League at the weekend, with Saturday's tally of eight sendings-off setting a new record.
With Barry Ferguson also given his marching orders in Birmingham's draw with Manchester City on Sunday, the two-day total of nine was the highest for a decade. Liverpool were the worst offenders, with Philipp Degen and Jamie Carragher both seeing red, while Everton's Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Carlos Cuellar of Aston Villa received their marching orders within minutes of each other at the end of their 1-1 draw.
