NORDSJAELLAND boss Morten Wieghorst led the applause for Queen of the South's courageous European debut after seeing his side survive a real scare to reach the UEFA Cup first round.
The Irn Bru First Division side were unable to overturn their second qualifying round first-leg defeat in last night's return but were more than a match for their Danish top-flight opponents.

Bob Harris' early stunner gave Queens real hope of an upset but the hosts took advantage of their need for a second goal, with two late Martin Bernburg strikes sealing a 4-2 aggregate success.

Wieghorst, who spent a decade playing in Scotland with Dundee and Celtic, paid tribute to their efforts, saying: "I must give lot of credit to Queens. My players looked under pressure. They couldn't handle it in the first half and we got off to a dreadful start with the early goal for Queens.

"Overall, I think Queens had more chances than us, and we struggled to break through."

Queens boss Gordon Chisholm was bursting with pride at his team's efforts. "I thought they gave everything they had," he said.

"I thought their effort, commitment was absolutely first-class. We had a couple of little chances. With a bit more luck then we'd have got another goal. It just wasn't to be."
