Nakamura chooses Espanyol over Yokohama

THE SCOTSMAN: JAPAN midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is set to join Spanish club Espanyol after Yokohama F. Marinos failed to complete a deal for the former Celtic player.

Marinos officials held a one-hour meeting with Nakamura's agent yesterday, during which they were informed of the player's decision.

Mallo says he's close to joining Hibs

THE SCOTSMAN: Falkirk goalkeeper Dani Mallo has revealed he is on the verge of signing for Hibernian.

The 30-year-old admitted he has been in touch with new Easter Road manager John Hughes about a move. Hughes managed Mallo at Falkirk last season before he quit the club for his dream move to the Edinburgh side.
