FALKIRK are on the verge of formally confirming their new management team, with Alex Smith expected to have a strong involvement in first-team affairs.
It has been suggested that Smith would be an advisor to the new management team of Eddie May and assistant Steven Pressley, but it now looks likely that Smith will share an equal role with Pressley. May will be the senior member of the management team as head coach, with Pressley and Smith joint first-team coaches.

The three-man team represents a new approach for Falkirk, with John Hughes very much the man in charge during his reign, but the involvement of former Aberdeen and St Mirren manager Smith is expected to lend valuable experience to May and Pressley as they take their first steps in senior coaching roles.

The 69-year-old Smith is the chairman of the Scottish Managers and Coaches Association, and has not worked in management since leaving Ross County in 2005. He has also managed Stenhousemuir, Stirling Albion, Clyde and Dundee United.

The new set-up could be confirmed as early as tomorrow, or the start of next week at the latest.
