VLADIMIR ROMANOV addressed the Hearts players following Saturday's defeat by Rangers to declare that Steve Banks could no longer be trusted to play for the club – comparing him with Steven Pressley and Andy Webster.
The majority shareholder entered the away dressing-room at Ibrox moments after the final whistle and claimed to have lost faith in Banks, who was replaced by reserve goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald for the match.

"Banks cannot be trusted, same as Pressley could not be trusted, same as Webster could not be trusted," said Romanov in front of a bemused first-team squad. A meeting between the pair on Saturday morning confirmed Banks' fate and he was a notable absentee later in the day as Kyle Lafferty and Kris Boyd goals consigned Hearts to defeat at Ibrox.

Pressley and Webster both clashed with Romanov and endured similar treatment to Banks before leaving Hearts.

A statement on the Edinburgh club's website revealed that the veteran Englishman is officially now youth team goalkeeping coach, effectively a demotion given that he has performed the dual role of player/goalkeeping coach for the first team for the last year.

It remains to be seen if the new arrangement is permanent but Banks is unlikely to play for Hearts again. The Evening News has learned that he and Romanov did not see eye to eye earlier this year when Rangers attempted to lure the 36-year-old to Ibrox as cover for Allan McGregor.

He was viewed suspiciously by Romanov as the last remaining George Burley signing at the club and, with further discussions due to take place between the parties this week, Banks may seek another club before the transfer window shuts.

Jamie MacDonald performed creditably in difficult circumstances on what was his competitive debut. Afterwards, he was quick to praise Banks' contribution, saying: "Banksy is a good goalkeeping coach and a good man. He's very experienced and has done well. He prepares everybody for a game."

Hearts have now begun searching for a new first-team goalkeeping coach. Arturas Ramoska, who holds the position at FBK Kaunas, is amongst the candidates.

You really can't help yourself can you Vlad? Just when things are looking up, in comes twatface with his size 11s and goes and fiddles with everything again.
Yeah, just bring in the Kaunas goalkeeping coach. Why not. And the manager aswell. And the fans. Cos you won't have many left in Edinburgh if you're going to insist on this nonsense.

Banks is the most trust worthy/decent guy at the club.

You should be ashamed Mr Romanov.

Steven Pressley was also trust worthy and a Hearts legend, Webster on the other hand is a little cockroach and can rot in hell for all I care.

What professional footballer is going to give his all for Hearts knowing that a top pro like Banks was emptied for no good reason?

Lenny, don't start, you Hibs boys have been a bit quiet of late aswell, so get your own house in order first eh. One win against a poor Falkirk defence and everything's rosy down at Easter Rd again?? Don't kid yourself.

I renewed my ST days before the start of the new season, I wish i had just stuck to my principles, but like every other time we have been suckered in, this time though i did genuinely believe things were going to change. This is the final straw now.

Vlad clearly told Csaba to drop Banks which for me is still meddling.

Banksy has been a true pro in all his time with the club, and is an honest guy. Certainly more honest than that little meddling attention seeking weasel.

Honest question here.. did Hearts fans really believe that Mr Romanov was going to take more of a hands off approach this season? Its sad to see the same things going on down Tynecastle, the fans cheated again!

This is the same banks who rejected to go to Rangers and now he has been deemed " Not trust worthy" I'm a hibs fan but still believe we need 2 strong teams in edinburgh and Romanov is doing his best to stop that! The sad thing is your stuck with him and nothing can be done.

That conversation between Vlad and the players 100% never took place in the changing rooms after the game! Vlad ranted on about how we were beat by the Scottish Mafia, but Banks wasn't mentioned. A meeting did take place between Banks, Vlad , Csaba and that Spanish sounding Russian in the morning and that's where Banks was told he was to coach the youth's. He's rightly not happy and he won't play again except for emergancy's. Vlad also wanted Kello to play, but Csaba resisted as he felt Kello wasn't ready. Another peice of poor journalism. "The appointment of a new first-team goalkeeping coach will be treated as a priority, Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo said today.

Steve Banks has been appointed coach of the youth keepers, with Csaba having already started the process of recruiting a replacement for the senior team."

Speaking to Hearts News today, the Tynecastle boss said: "We will be having talks about this and discussing what we will do.

"It is important to have someone in this position as soon as possible and we will do something as quickly as we can."

A number of possible candidates are being considered, although Csaba preferred to keep their identities to himself for the moment.

He added: "We have some ideas but cannot discuss them just now."

Still nothing about this on Hearts world, where has Banderson got this info from? a reliable source? hearsay? or just guess work? i know there is quotes here, and i know what i said in my first post, and tbh the whole situation does stink of vlad meddling. We do need some clarification on this though

Romanov has been quiet for too long, it was inevitable something would blow sooner or later. He cannot help himself, he promised so much in his time with Hearts and has not delivered on any of them, so for him to say he would stay out of team & player matters is fantasy, Laszlo has just rolled over by selecting MacDonald for Saturday, so we are back to square one, unless it was all instigated by Laszlo because he does not want Banks as a player or indeed on his coaching staff.
38

Mr Jaffa,

Vlads peope skills really do leave a lot to be desired. Why couldnt this have been a discussion behind closed doors between Vlad, Shabba and Banksy!!

Not sure though about this being clear evidence that Vlad is picking the team. Shabba clearly said last week that Banks couldnt continue to be coach and player! My take on that was as soon as another keeper arrived he would be expected to purely coach. Clearly Banks hasnt agreed with that viewpoint and presumably heated discussions have resulted in a falling out.

I always expected Banks to be playing less this season, as much to do with his age as anything else. Probably more surprised that Basso went first. Dont see in any way why this is connected to George Burley though! Think Banderson may have plucked that one out the air (unlike him I know!).

Anyway....the next couple of games are key to Hearts season for me. A couple of wins and this will be forgotten about. A couple of defeats and we fall back into the dark days again.

And whats the problem with this? He has done a dual role for the past year and now we want him to coach the youth GK's with someone with more experience coaching the first team GK's.

Its not a demotion. Banderson you are using words that glorify the situation to make it look worse than it is. FOOL!!

As for the complete tosh spouted by Banderson about Romanov coming to the dressing room? Banderson, you must be on drugs mate. Either that or whoever you get your info from is feeding you complete nonsense.

Banks "can not be trusted" eh?? How come he has been given role of coaching the youth GK's? We all know that IF he could not be trusted, he would be out the door.

2 Weeks into the season, and thanks to our glorious and divine leader team morale will have plumetted ....... again! Its like Stalinist Russia!

Instead of getting rid of good honest players like Banks, we should be signing more of them. It was a shameful performance at Ibrox which was appropriately highlighted by Romanov's lapdogs; Miko is the one who should be axed, along with chesny, Zaliuseless, Ksnavipus. And throw that fat b*stard Nade out for good measure too, he should be ashamed of himself hardly being able to last 3/4 of a half ....hes a profesional footballer for god sake!

We desperately need a CB, RB, Attacking Midfielder and 2 more Strikers for this team to be worth anything.

Game Over, Season Over, Bottom 6 here we come.

This could be the final straw for many Hearts fans, just when Romanov was perhaps getting a few back on side. To compare Banks to Webster in particular is just farcical. He was the one man who seemed 100% committed to keeping the dressing room together last season when the hierarchy seemed hell bent on doing the complete opposite. I'm absolutely disgusted, although Jamie MacDonald did do well at the weekend.

Have thought the same myself, re if he isnt to be trusted why hasnt he been punted. It has been well publiscised the last week or so Banksy had to make his mind up either play full time or coach full time. There may or may not have been disagreements over the rolls, but if its over the Rangers issue why wait until now, and why has Banksy played in so many games, not just this season and pre-season but the end of last season as well.

Im not convinced either way yet untill we have more confirmation, as i said though there does appear to be something going on. My first post may have been an OTT reaction, or it may turn out to be an acurate one depending on how this pans out. If its deemed Vlad is interfering again and this is what has happened Then as i said this will be the final straw for me as far as Vlad is concerned

Sorry guys but this aint much of a story, if I was Banks I'd be pee'd that my playing career was effectively being told to be cut short.

Hes a decent keeper, wobbly last week against Well though, but I think this is more Csaba than Vlad and Vlad has made matters worse by his total lack of diplomacy, deep end as usual.
Storm in a tea cup by Vlads standards but as ever badly handled.
I would say though theres a 90% chance Banks has spat the dummy, I think I would have too, nobody wants to be a coach when they can play.

#60 Wha'??
Coaching and being on the playing staff isn't that uncommon in the footballing world you know.
If I was in his position, I would have expected to move from player/coach into the full time coach role when I decided to give up playing. It sounds like he's been told to give up playing, and that he won't get the coaching job he'd been doing, he'll be doing a lesser job. If that's the case, then he has every right to be p!ssed off, I know I would be in his situation.
It is a demotion, simple as that. The job he's doing today isn't as good as the job he had last week.

I heard on Saturday after the match Vlad was trackside with Csaba and walked past Chick (The moron) young and said "2-0 to the Scottish Mafia" so we do know he was fuming at the game and how it was handled. Unless there is a mole leaking out info directly from the dressing room, then we can assume no-one knows for certain what was or wasnt said, but I do think given vlads reaction trackside banksy might have been the last thing on his mind at the time.

#65 Bobby, I appreciate if you have a contact he should remain annonymous, but if thats the case, why was Banks not playing in the first place, why was he dropped after last week, was he blamed for the goals against Well.
It would not have been so strange if Banks was dropped and none of this p8sh appeared in the press, but Banks did not play and then the press was full of it so I assume only one conclusion, Vlad said Banks will not play and thats it. Maybe he did press to get Kello playing and Csaba resisted but still smacks of Vlad pulling the strings.

Not a mole, just a mate. The bottom line is, we got beat 2-0 at Ibrox, not the end of the world, we're looking for a new No1 goalkeeper, probably a good shout, next week we'll have a new hero in David Obua, we'll beat St Mirren, Hibs will loose to Inverness and all will be rosey

Comes across as another made up story to fill empty space .Evening News sales and advertising have plummeted to a new low .Many pay offs at Holyrood . Barry Anderson better watch himself for writing more nonsense How did he get access to the Hearts changing room ? Bringing in a Scottish Under 21 cap is no bad thing as Jamie MacDonald will do a good job when called upon . Banks is a good solid safe pair of hands although it seems Csaba wants to clarify his position . By all accounts Kello is also a good keeper

Cant argue with you there, your probably right, but Csaba has been saying for a while he was desperate to sort the Banks situation out. Not posted here for some time as I've been on holiday.

I was going to say that I'm pleased with the start to the season, the new signings (not sure about the Lithuanian keeper) and am still positive despite Saturday's result and another disgraceful performance by the clown Miko who should never be in the team. This article has changed my feelings however as it's clear that nothing has changed at all and Romanov is as destructive an influence as ever.

I have a ticket for Saturday's match - a sign of my support for the club for finally appointing a proper manager and letting him do his job. Seems my confidence was premature however.

Time will tell if any progress is possible this season or if more mediocrity will result from Romanov's continuing disgraceful interference in team issues despite all Laszlo's comments to the contrary during pre-season.

Why are you assuming that Vlad made the call.
I like Banks,good keeper.
If Csaba is building a team like he has been quoted on enough times for the majority of us to believe him then why would he want a goalkeeper who is closer to 40 than 30 and has no real value apart from his experience coaching the younger players.

What is the problem.
OH yes.............Vlad is interfering again.
Everytime we have a bad result are we going to be subjected to the same old crud, bad enough from the followers of other teams but our own support should either shape up or shut up.

Hold the front page:

This article does not read well - Poential to be partial Bu115hit. Read the last line ....."Arturas Ramoska, who holds the position at FBK Kaunas, is amongst the candidates." It tells us nothing - Just a journalist stating that somebody (an obvious one) is a possible for the job.....The total writing is very flimsy and if it was not for the alleged quote I would mark it down as drivel. The quote worries though.

What's the betting - Vlad (probably actually Pedro) says to SB "we want you as coach NOT playing". SB replies "I reckon I have one or two good years playing left".
Vlad - "you WILL be coach or nothing" (Henry Kissinger he is not)
Gun to the head - SB - "I'll not be treated like that so will just sit and see out my contract".
Vlad to Casbah - "Make sure he coaches the youth team - that will pi55 him off so he leaves of his own free will and saves having to pay off his contract".

Does anyone ever leave our club without acrimony ?

It's not a first (the method of ousting "unwanteds")- Rangers have used this method for years - Graham Roberts,Terry Hurlock and many more.
Celtic just now are doing this with three players - Rear Done , Balde and Graveson.

The difference is that Banks comes over well and doesnt appear to be in the same ball park as the players I have mentioned. If a player does not do what an an owner wants this is what happens - it is realism that is used elsewhere.
I don't like the way Romanov does his business but some of it is not new.

Just when the atmosphere came back to Tynie for the first time in two years he bu66ers it up.It will be gone again come Saturday. I knew Vlad could not keep things rosey but YET AGAIN he allegedly gets involved on the morning of a match - What does he hate about Saturday mornings ?

As for your Miko comments, the only disgrace is those who are trying to hound a young lad out of his chosen proffesion and from this country. There are words for that kind of behaviour. I watched the game live online, and can assure you Mikos performance was not disgracefull. He is clearly being victimised in this country and is a marked man as soon as he steps onto the pitch, which to me is absolutely disgusting

#91 As far as I'm concerned Miko is entirely to blame for Saturday. He let his side down yet again. I agree with the EEN article here that states this too.

I know he scored against Motherwell but he's had so many chances now and consistently lets everyone down. To my mind he is a liability. It seems that he can do no wrong however regardless of his constant sending offs. How many more chances will he get? Sorry, retorhical quetion- he'll be in the team in his 40s probably. And he'll be sent off against Rangers two or three times a season.

Laszlo has spoken about discipline and the club have been rightly hammered by the SFA for their indiscipline over the past 2 years. So I expect to hear from Laszlo that Miko has been heavily fined and will find it hard to win a place back in the squad. If not, he's simply another Romanov puppet. How disappointing.

Point 1 - 80 posts since midday is hardly "AWOL" (do you even know what the acronym means? Do you know what the word acronym means?)

Point 2 - So you're happy that a two goal margin despite the best efforts of your as-per-usual complicit refs constitutes the "gubbing" we were all told to expect?

Point 3 - a Bear having a go at any club in the world for their fans' "shameful" behaviour? I don't even need to say what everybody thinks about that comment.

Finally point 4 - Rangers joint top with newcomers Hamilton after two games. Left for dead right enough.

#81 The bill you send us will be considerably less than the one we regularly have to send you so no big deal!
As for the game - yes we were outplayed but not outclassed. I know it sounds like a stuck record but the ref didn't help. How did Broadfoot get away with the most blatant dive since Miko's against Scotland? Seriously he'd have won a medal in Beijing. Then Miko does get clipped - minimal contact but there was - and he gets booked?! Admittedly the 2nd challenge was stupid but even then it was his first tackle of the game - anyone else would have got a warning but he gets victimised by refs everywhere. That alone should have stopped him going in for the tackle but he's a bit daft!
Still don't think you'll win the league. Still pretty ordinary at the weekend and easily beatable by a more experienced team - we'll do you at Tynie in November.

#90 LF, I am only assuming it was Vlad decision because of what has been reported in this headline.

I was asking why Banks was not selected for Saturday after all he started the season as the club's No 1 and that lasted only 1 game. If Laszlo wanted to sort out Banks situation a couple of weeks ago why did he select him as the No 1.

I, the same as everyone else, do not know the truth but something is not right. At the end of the day I think Banks, MacDonald and Kello are probably all as good as each other so it doesn't really matter who is selected, its just the circus that goes on around it all everytime something happens.

And, if you read my post it's positive about the start to the season. It's only Romanov's continued interference that's the problem. And as for Miko I simply don't rate him. Just a thought, but a couple of weeks ago, Rangers/David Murray sold their best player out from under Walter. So is Murray picking the team over there? It is amazing how anything that happens at Hearts is treated differently to any other club. I dont know what happened, but there is (a) a rumbling about the approach that Rangers made for Banks last winter (he probably wanted to go) and (b) Laszlo doesnt seem to be too bothered about this.

Let's see what happens on Saturday. In the next few weeks, the keepers will probably rotate until they find the best one. And why would be Vlad be so bothered about Kello playing? He's Slovakian, not Lithuanian. He's probably more proud of MacDonald given that he came from the academy.

I dont know why I bother reading the papers these days....

Hmmm interesting story, don't know what went on which is probably about the same amount of info Banderson has, however, I am inclined to believe Bobby Prentice at #28 as he usually talks sense. What I would say is that as much as I have a great deal of respect for Banksy and thought he was solid and reliable last season, I thought he looked very dodgy v pars, dodgy v hull, and wasn't exactly brilliant v motherwell, so was quite pleased that young Jamie got a chance and I'm looking forward to seeing him continue as number 1! Altho I would have liked to have seen Banksy as first team goalkeeping coach, but he does not have the experiance for the job, does he have the relevant badges?

In summary, probably the right decision i.e. Jamie number 1, Banks coach for the youngsters, but if any of this story is true (I know!) then extremely poorly handled!

I feel sorry for Banks who is the utmost professional. Romanov has always had it in for him as he was a George Burley signing.
Csaba will not last long I'm afraid. He has too much personality for Romanov's liking I'm sure. He prefers faceless yes men like Korobotchka and Chrevenkov.

Could be the reason Csaba doesnt want him as first team GK coach, He maybe wants to bring in someone more experienced with the relevent badges. At the moment everything is speculation. Secondly Miko does not stand a chance! As soon as he walks on the park he is unfairly discriminated against! The OF have been the worst for diving throughout the years although lets turn a blind eye for them!!!

Miko puts a 100% effort for us when he is on the park and was one of our better players when most had stopped trying in the bottom six last season.

We will have a good season under Csaba bearing in mind none of our new signings have featured due to injury and fitness so lets get behind the club instead of listening to blatent lies!!!!

#117 While your heids popped out the sand momentarily, can I offer you my view on Banks?

1. He's not elderly for a goalkeeper
2. His performances have never been questionable in my view and I'd have in the team every time
3. He seems to be doing well as goalkeeping coach as well as being a top class player and certainly doesn't warrant sudden demotion from the team AND from his 1st team coaching role

The truth is clear. In comparing him to the "traitors" like Pressley (a legend in my view and a hundred times the man that Romanov is), it's obvious that he has spoken his mind. Venturing an opinion is not an option at Tyniegrad as we know.

Banks was probably concerned about the failure of the club to secure the Hungarian international keeper after his manager had agreed the deal the imposition of another loanee from Kaunas. Aren't you??

I would have Banks as Hibs first choice keeper this season please..... Never know, stranger things have happened.

I now think its patently naive not to understand why Vlad runs Hearts (& most likel all his other interests) this way.

He comes from a country which was formerly part of the SOviet Union who to put it mildly "did things a little differently from us".

This sort of behaviour is engrained in his make up, from being in the Soviet Navy onwards his understanding of how things work is that he is the boss (fair enough) and that all his subordinates will do as he says (whether his right or wrong), He sees his business far from being a democracy or run by specialists in that field as HIS and HIS will is how it shall be (much like the politburo of the former USSR).

It's just his way and his life has made him like that. Far from being mad, in his eyes it is us who are all daft as brushes for thinking that consensus & debate & specialist knowledge makes for a better way.

Sadly (for Hearts) though much as Communisim fell because of its inflexibility and authoritarian style so will Hearts ambitions of conquering Europe as the people Vlad will have to deal with will not tolerate being shoved around by the boss to the point of humiliation.

A sad day for Hearts again as another good servant is promptly sent to the "firing squad".

One win (Through a referees incompetance/Cheating)and alls well at Ibrox again and David Murray is a hero.

One they get pumped and beaten to the title again Theyll soon be saying how they wanted Murray out at the start of the season.

#122.

1, Not that elderley for a keeper, however, I think MacDonald is just as good and a hell of a lot younger so with the option of one more year of Banks who will not significantly develop his talents, or many years of MacDonald developing into a top class keeper, or at least giving the same standard as we used to get for Banks, I would take MacDonald.

2, Thats football, all about opinions, I gather you have stayed away this year, thats your decision, and while I could never question Banks' performances in the past, I think he has struggled so far this year, in pre-season and against motherwell. My friends and others agree with me, no doubt plenty will agree with you.

3, Again, thats opinions, I feel his performances have let him down and he deserved demotion from the team, not so sure about demotion as a coach as every1 was pretty positive about him there, however, new manager putting in place his own backroom staff? He has done it slowly but he has got his number 2 in place, now for the rest? that is feasible. Also we require clarification regarding his coaching badges, I went on info given earlier in thread that he did not hold the relevant badges, will retract that if proven wrong, but if correct then it would be wise of us to appoint sum1 with more experiance and the relevant qualifications.

Not bothered by the Kaunas keeper coming in, I see MacDonald as number 1 with him as back up, or even Halmar Bjarnosson (sp) as back up, I would be comfortable with that.

I would never call Banks a traitor, but how do you know for certain Vlad has?

Don't know if this report is true or not, I can only hope Banderson is talking p1sh, although there's probably some truth in ti somewhere.

More worried about the overall rubbish performance from the team on saturday. We look decent in defence but were terrible going forward. I have to come to Zally's defence - he was steady enough, Wallace was worse for me. Too many players went missing - Kingston hasn't looked interested in either game so far and was awful on Sat and don't get me started on Miko. Karipidis did well but Stewart and Driver just could not get on the ball. Mole is an honest trier but needs quality up there with him, not Audrey K. Nade... all I can say is that if he was a better option than Makela, then he should be thinking of changing careers. We had next to nothing going forward.

OK hot shots, pop quiz.

What the F*** does #146 have to do with #141.

I can't see the connection, maybe somebody else can.

Note to Vlad - I've just heard from my contact amongst the Gers that the reason they win everything is because they have a marble staircase. Please deliver one to Tynecastle forthwith and then all your dreams will be realised.

PS - no worries Daillyman - the more Bears that stand up to "peepul" like this pustule the better for Scottish football and Scotland in general. "Peepul" that don't know the difference between the Masons and the Orange Lodge for example.

#124 LF Yes it may well be he was dropped by Laszlo but thatjust seems very strange to me, he was named as the No 1 and if Laszlo did not want him as No 1 whay announce it a couple of weeks ago.

I don't think Banksie would have decided to call it a day, not so long ago he was clear that he wanted to continue as a player as well as coach, although as a professional I am sure if he was named as second choice behind MacDonald or someone else he would have accepted that and continued with the coachin.

I am sure he will be out of the club soon although we will probably never know the truth.

Struggling to remember us looking so blunt in attack. I'll give Rangers some credit, they passed it quite well and Mendes is a good player, saw him once for Pompey and he was excellent. Still, the Gers defence isn't that good and we should have been able to cause it more problems. Big Mikey Tullberg better be great.

Steve Banks is a man who has priciples. Pressley, Hartley and Gordon all had the balls to stand up to the mad one. What happens? You're out. To be compared to that rat webster must be very hurtful to Steve Banks.

If the diving incident had been reversed and it had been Barry Ferguson falling down going past a hearts defender. Who'd have been surprised at the hearts defender getting booked for the challenge. It is as Craig Levein stated a waste of time going through to slumville as you have no chance of a fair, impartial ref. Having said that it was not a penalty for hearts. Again, reverse the situation and the ref probably would have given it to the flute blowers. It's always been this way. It's just that the whole world can now see through their TV's that cheating has favoured these pair of bigots. The media are afraid to state the obvious for fear that their journalists/reporters will be excluded from ipox or the potato farm. The whole state of Scottish is farcical. Why has some reporter not looked at the dodgy decisions given in their favour over the years.I think this would be eye opening.

While the OF DO get more decisions than the smaller clubs it aint down to corruption, its the law of averages. More attacking play and more possesion, also influenced by larger supports. Its the same everywhere you go.
They do suffer from decisions against them too but these are quickly forgotten as more often than not they overcome them and still take the points.

There is some merit in what you say there but it doesnt make it any fairer on our part does it.
The hand ball at Ibrox is a penalty OR all defenders do from now on is turn their backs on the ball and shut their eyes.
You know as well as i do that within weeks a similar situation will occur and the pen will be given.
The non-pen at Tannadice is just laughable.

Doesnt it worry you that teams will start turning up in Glesga just to fulfill the fixture rather than actually turning up to test themselves against the best and improving themselves.
Surely its for the good of the Scottish game that both OF teams come out and condemn these corrupt/incompetant officials because your teams will suffer in the future or perhaps have suffered at the hands of our reserves.

The penalty claim at Ibrox is entirely debatable mate. Look through the threads - There are plenty Hearts supporters saying it wasnt a penalty.

Re Yesterday - Absolute stonewaller for DU. And to show that im trying to be be unbiased the one in the cup final with Cuellar was an equally as bad call.

Although Celtcs penalty last week was dubius to say the least, they had a decent shout for VoH turned down minutes before that.

Off the top of my head last season we had a stonewaller turned down v ICT where Naismith was held back, and a perfectly good goal dissallowed v St Mirren for offside. We still went on to claim full points in these games so there is nothing made of the poor decsion.

Thanks Bankies but the team is moving on, as harsh as that might sound its the reality of the situation. Take the coaching post and be thankful your still in football. Still its looking good for this season guys, 3rd should be within easy reach once these new guys bed in and I'm sure we will hammer the hobo's a good few times as. #163 LF when we turn up to play these guys we need to play well and beat them fairly and squarly, rather than make excuses every time and to be honest we are not good enough and neither are any of the others in the SPL, teams will have a good season and struggle to come 3rd in the league, Celtic and Rangers can struggle for the whole season but still end up 10 or more points ahead of the rest. Take Motherwell as an example, they came third last season and start this season with 2 defeats. Hamilton kick off with two wins but will crumble.

I think we need to be realistic, unless we beat the OF well, we will always be also rans, regardless of the referees.

As for the reject signing, Mendes has a CL winners medal to go along with the FA winners medal from last season. He had a decent game Saturday, and should improve the side. Not bad for a reject.
172

Rolland,

18/08/2008 16:07:16
Can't blame the ref for Saturday's result, but it does seem that the OF always get the major decisions in a game. As for Miko well he should have learned by now he needs to be whiter than white to get a decent shout with the refs in Scotland due to previous antics. He should be fined 2 weeks wages for leaving the team a man down and issue an apology to his team mates. That said I personally feel the 2nd yellow was a bit harsh for his first tackle. None of this appeal nonsense it gets us nowhere, fine the lad and get some discipline back in that dressing room Csaba.

I'll be at Tynecastle on Saturday so will have a right to my views again (and it's not been 3 years since I stopped going, just since Riccarton Gate).

I'm glad Miko will be suspended. I suppose it's too much to hope that Chesny may get a chance, that we won't have 5 in midfield and one up front and that Romanov won't have an influence on team selection or go anywhere near the players.

Well done to Mikey Stewart, a well deserved call-up for a quality player who gives his all.

Only in jest - I have nothing against Rangers fans (some of my best friends know Rangers fans.....), I have a lot against the pretend 'fans' that use the football club they support as an excuse to pretend their bigoted views have any relevancy in modern society.

Don't forget, we also have a wee boil on our collective club backside, the few little trogs that we know about who also believe that 300-odd-year old Irish history is still important.

"Presumably as goalkeeping coach he had the cheek to have an opinion on which goalkeeper should be signed and who should play."

Why would a GK coach have an opinion on who is signed or not? He's only a GK Coach ffs. Do you think All the backroom staff and coaches have a say who is signed? or do you think they should? get real NJ ffs. As long as Csaba is the one picking and choosing what layers to come in then thats what matters.

You obviously either missed or chose to ignore my post from earlier Re. The hungarian GK.

"Csaba also revealed that he won't rule out the possibility of signing Janos Balogh, although the Hungarian has now returned to Budapest for the time being.

"The Hungarian goalkeeper is very talented, but it is not a decision between me, the goalkeeper and the club," he said.

"At the moment he told me he would fly back. We made an offer. He told me he wants to think about this. You cannot force someone to come here. Next week we can come back to this question."

As i said an offer has been made to him.

The players bought are Nikamota and Robatelli....

over 200 posts mostly about the incompetancy or cheating of Dougal. Yet not one mention of Larryea Kingston's Booking.

So since were on the subject of incompetancy, why would Dougal book Kingston for avoiding what was a 2 footed tackle which was just as bad if not worse than Mikos? becuse he caught Thompson with a trailing leg, he wouldnt have caught the little thug in the first place if thompson hadnt been so reckless with the challenge.

Then we have a challenge by Mendes on Stewart, and if he had connected with Stewart there is no doubt it would have been a serious injury. Yet not even spoken to by the ref.

We have Broadfoots clear dive, which mirrored that of mikos against scotland, clear cheating dive, which not only Hearts fans have picked up on. The what about Boyds clear dive when berra tickled him, this free kick resulted in a goal evetually. yes we can say our defence should have cleared it, but the defence should never have been in the position to have been defending a free kick.

Then we have the penalties. Hearts first, some given and some wouldnt be, however just to clear up the rule, yes it has to be deliberate handball or deemed deliberate by the ref, HOWEVER if the handball even if Accidental is stopping a clear goal then it should be given as a penalty. The shot from driver was on target and would have burst the net.

Rangers penalty 50/50 Im not complaining to much about it as many refs would have given it, the benefit of TV showed wallace DID win the ball however Dougal would never have saw tht and wallace did come in from behind.

Son I hate to be the bearer of some news you might not like.

Trust me there are many fans of all clubs who are in the Blue craft, not just RFC.

Referee's in Scotland in general are a poor lot, I dont think they are bent, some just lack top class ability. And mistakes are made.

Years ago when when Scotland did have some decent officials, we also slagged them.

Its a no win job, and with the technical advances today with slow motion replay their mistakes are magnified.

I think we have proven in the past your not exactly the best person to have a debate with, your a proven liar.

As for my post, Funny how the incidents i have mentioned also have the likes of Andy walker, Jim Traynor and others commenting on the "Inconsistency" shall we call it? of McDougal. Not well known pundits for ever backing Hearts on anything yet have done so regarding saturdays shambles.

6th Picture down, tells its own story doesnt it? can you see any contact there? a clearer dive you will never see, yet TV evidence clearly showed Papac's arm out impeding miko. What iam merely stating here is at the very least the ref is grossly negligent in applying the same rules for all players.

I will agree with you that over the course of a season the OF clubs do seem to get the "rub of the green", excuse the expression,, from match officials.

Are they intimidated by the large OF crowds? Who knows.

#222 Fair enough on the Hungarian keeper deal but with that still a possibility and with Banks, MacDonald and 2 other promising young keepers on the books it makes me wonder why they needed one from Kaunas too. Especially as MacDonald was preferred to him on Saturday (and did well).

Re. your points in #219 about the game, I am more concerned that the Hearts tactics and performance were as poor as usual against the OF than about the referee's performance. One shot on target in 90 minutes isn't surprising with that formation but it's not the way to win away in Glasgow.

Still, early days for Laszlo and lets hope he gets more positive in his selections and has a go - that's the only way to come away from OF games with the points in my view.

Unfortunately that "Rub of the green" more often than not can decide the outcome of a game. The "Big" decisions are probably more than 80% in favour of the OF.

If they are intimidated by crowds then sack them. They are paid to do a job and the fans are paying customers only. The fans should make no bearing on the outcome of the gam excpet to cheer their team on and maybe give them that extra push at times.

If our referees cannot handle big games with big crowds then its time they were gone and refs from another country brought in, refs with experience and are capable of handling a match with 50,000 fans or 60,000 fans.

For all those that damn Miko for diving - And I ALWAYS do - he WAS impeded when taking his triple pike.
What is worrying is it is just a matter of time until we again play with just 10 men as Ksanevicius was at it as usual on Saturday and should have been booked once more. It baffles me why he continues to chuck himself on the ground knowing full well he will gain only a booking. Ksanevicius has seen what happened to his mates that went down too easily - can he not learn something from this ????????

Very few folk mention that the free kick that led up to Rangers first goal should never have been given.

Oh - and for all the papers reports that Rangers controlled the game and it was one way traffic - How many saves did our keeper have to make ?

Andy Webster is very much a Rangers player, contrary to the claims of #237

Walter Smith has faith in the lad, but believes that he needs a few months of regular first team football to get back to the level where he can be considered for selection by Rangers. Bristol City have lost a central defender to injury, so their manager has spoken to Rangers and Webster will take his place.

It should be a good move for all parties concerned, and because the Bristol City manager has personally made the move, Webster should be guaranteed the first team selection that he craves.

Because, unlike at Tynecastle, Bristol City have an old-fashioned system where the manager picks the team.

evening jambos and the couple of rangers guys on here who talk sense...... don't think for a minute that includes YOU plumtit, bto or bigkennyspak.

there's nothing like a match full of contentious issues to really get the plums out and about, driveling their tosh.

each to their own opinions obviously but their really have been some whoppers today.

how anyone can defend the broadfoot cheat is astonishing. as well as just falling over as if he had just ran into an invisible table on the pitch, to make matters worse he gets up and just wanders nonchalantly off as if butter wouldn't melt!!! boyd does something similar by crumpling to the deck as soon as he thinks he's in with a good shout of getting a free kick right in front of goal. there's very little point in the hearts players remonstrating with that pair 'cos they are a right aggressive pair of jokers on the pitch.

don't think for a second that these actions are taken out by players on their own initiative either. the rangers management will be more than aware of the advantages to be gained by taking advantage of pathetic refereeing / outright bias.

rangers may well have deserved to win the match but that doesn't excuse the scandalous abuse of power and position which goes on within the refereeing fraternity and beyond.

a couple of the rangers guys on here at least do themselves credit by admitting to some of the outrageous injustices of saturday, the ones that know about football. the likes of plumtit and bto have been shown to know nowt about football....

AND BOY DOES IT SHOW.

Were you at the game on Saturday? One-sided? Do you suffer from an unfortunate vision defect? Yes, overall Rangers had more chances but, quite honestly, they were very ordinary (as were Hearts unfortunately). One-sided? The targeting of Miko by the 'ref' was an absolute disgrace. One-sided? Yes, maybe if you are allowed to clear goal-bound shots with your hand. One-sided? I don't think so - unlike this demonstration of your misinformed opinion.

RANGERS DESERVED THEIR WIN.

(PS Are you the same poster as last season's VICTOR IAN, or a totally diffeent person?)

I'll admit first of all that I haven't seen the whole match, and my opinions are based on watching the highlights a few times and reading various match reports...

Firstly, to get Broadfoot out of the way - it was so ridiculous that I'm hoping he actually stumbled. If that was a dive then it made Thomson's effort last season against Celtic look subtle. Mikoliunas at least had a hand on him when he received his yellow, but it was still a blatant dive. His second yellow was foolish in the extreme. I make no comment on whether the red card was deserved, but he should never have given the referee the opportunity.

With regard to Boyd, he definitely was guilty of "backing in" to the defender, and the great master himself, Chris Sutton, would have approved. Unfortunately, it's part and parcel of the modern game, particularly on the continent, and Rangers were witnesses to a lot of it during a long European campaign last season (no such problems this year, alas). Free kicks at that kind of range are potent weapons, and defenders have to be very clever and streetwise when they make a challenge.

As for the penalties, I'm going to be predictable. Bougherra turned his back to the oncoming shot, and the ball struck the back of his upper arm, which was fairly close to his body. I just can't see it as a penalty. For the RFC spot kick, I reckon that Miller was definitely taken out as he was about to shoot, and it seems to me to be the correct award, although the TV angle that I've watched is slightly inconclusive with regard to whether the Hearts player actually got the ball, and whether he went through KM first in order to do so.

All in all, though, I thought it was an improved performance from RFC against a team that I still reckon can challenge for 3rd place (if the manager is allowed to pick the team and can get a consistent team onto the field).

Unlike you lot we can admit when were not the better team. Its more a case on the manner of the defeat how it was handed to them.

309. Why bother even talking to tubes like 'bring them on' you'll never get through to them, their 'bluenose' arrogance is something you'll never change. The best we can hope for in the current climate of Scottish football is to watch them play teams in European competitions, in games refereed by officials who don't give a damn about them, they just can't handle playing when there is a level playing field, when they don't have their all-important 12th man, that's when they find out just how ordinary they really are.

1. never in a month of sundays would rioters have lost to kaunas in an spl match.

2. never in a month of sundays would miko have been sent off if he had player against them for kaunas in a euro match.

#332 LF, banks? it's hard to form a definitive opinion about the whole episode without being in full receipt of the facts. we get told one thing about what happened and then we get told by various people that something else happened. i guess that applies to most things that go on at hearts.

i can see why csaba would want a separate GK coach from the 1st choice keeper. i wouldn't see any point in 'retiring' him from playing if he's going to be coaching youth players though. as usual the whole thing seems a bit strange to me.

295

Ulsterjambo,

Just watched the game on Rangers t.v. Overall, not too displeased with performance from back to middle.Up front is still too lightweight(in a football sense, nothing to do with Fatty Nade!)Definite signs of improvement, fortuitous 1st goal and late penalty hardly makes rangers great,in fact almost as shot shy as us!
On the goalkeeping question:perhaps when Banks heard we were looking at another goalie he thought aloud"I could have been at rangers" Miko heard him and ran off to tell Daddy (Romanov) Romanov puts his usual slant on it and tells Csaba Banks is going to throw the game at Ibrox......The rest is history.

#341 LF, if he has been treated like an idiot then it's another shocker. the guy seems like a genuine, honest, loyal player to me. vlad seems to see bogeymen around every corner.

i wasn't that bothered about the way elvis was emptied because i still think there was an element of 'ticket working' going on there. i wasn't bothered about frail because imho he was only hanging on to pick up his mortgage money and didn't have half the passion and drive that csaba seems to have.

banks being made out to be monkey would bother me though. but then again, we don't know all the facts... we are jambos, not reactionary hobos.

301

Vlad Magic,

18/08/2008 20:31:58

there's a distinct divide between the people on here tonight. there's the ones who are offering genuine and honest opinions about their football team. genuinely interested in a game and in a club that they care about.

and there's another camp who offer nothing but semi-literate growling and barking, no interest in football, no knowledge of the game, probably sitting with their tongues stuck to the screen.

i'm glad for the presence of the underclass on here, it provides some perspective for us real football fans to feel better about things.

You continue to illustrate my point perfectly.
When you were a kid you were always the last to be picked.
Your support for Rangers is a rod for you to beat others and a crutch for your inadequacy as a footballer and a person.

Like your score predictions for the Kaunas game?

Why not have another one of your wee blue tinted polls again. "Who will play better in the first old firm game? McGeady or Niguez. I think Niguez" Surprised us all with your p(l)umping for the Rangers player eh?

You're a Rangers fan thru and thru, I'll give you that. But you're also a diddy.

#315 I do speak to Stevie Banks and he did want to join Rangers. I'm sure you'll agree that he showed great professionalism by not making a fuss about the move being blocked. Nice to see him being treated so well in return isn't it.

Nobody responded cos it was a waste of time. You never take your blue tinted specs off. You're a rangers fan...not a football fan. Discussion of the most simplest of football matters is an impossibility for you. And if your predictions are so great, what are you dong on a newspaper forum after 1am? Surely you should be whacking large amounts of cash on all these predictions and living the life of luxury.

Heart of Midlothian had no greater servant than Elvis!
Young Webster was a promising young player hoping to try his luck at a normal club, but was perfectly happy until Madenough appeared. The normality went out the window the same day.
Banks played reserve to Craig Gordon for long enough and was and still is a perfectly good keeper. He should be commended for sterling performances behind a lousy defence!
The fact that Hearts have signed a Kaunus goalkeeper who we have only seen play against Rangers, and we are being fed this bull/story about this was the managers decision, but the deal went through quicker than a train through the Chunnel,is a complete and total load of cobblers!
Banks will find another club, and once again the NON SELLING CLUB are clearing out everybody and replacing them with average players, with very minor exception.
Okay a top six finish could happen this season but what happened to the promises of a league title and the four year plan? This club has no ambition!
The fans deserve better and Hearts youngsters are as good as the majority of these signings!
Driver is a classic example.Kingston is a notable exception.
ITS ALL CRUD
I blame the Hearts fans. You sustain Romanov by buying season tickets. If you really love the club then get this MADANOV OUT, and talk to him in the only language he understands MONEY!
Dont give him any!He will soon mend his ways or ........................two words, one is a preposition, one a proposition, not neccessarily in that order!
I would sooner see the club drop to the third division with a youth team and sharing Heriot Watts park than continue with this Lithuanian Lunatic.I was no fan of Foulkes but even he was better than this little Tin Pot Dictator.BAD NEWS on legs.

Jambo = adjective
1. naive and easily deceived or tricked; "at that early age she had been gullible and in love" [syn: fleeceable]
2. easily tricked because of being too trusting; "gullible tourists taken in by the shell game"

Banks = Lucky escape (on my way to ibrox)

#226 GORGIES FINEST

You do yourself, the club, and its supporters no credit whatever by coming out with that hostile guff just because someone disagrees with you.....their opinions are as relevent as yours and this'd be a very dull thread if we all agreed. Try and lay off the aggro for once and get back to debate. The constant whining that others are mad, evil, racist, thick etc etc is all too visible and merely demonstartes an unwanted level of intolerance. Calm down....please !!

VLAD has had long enough to show what he is like, a DICTATOR without a country to run. True hearts fans should be talking with their feet. It may kill the club, but at least it would be more dignified than the slow, painful death it started going through with the present majority share holder.
