HEARTS are close to completing the signing of Spanish winger Jesus Manuel Santana Abreu after the player underwent a medical in Edinburgh yesterday.
Known as Suso, the 24-year-old is available on freedom of contract after scoring nine goals last season for UD Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands club which plays in the third tier of Spanish football (Segunda B).

Sources close to Suso said this mo
rning that the deal with Hearts was "99 per cent" done with official confirmation of the signing expected within 24 hours, pending satisfactory medical results.

Csaba Laszlo, the Hearts manager, watched the player in action for his former club, CD Tenerife, and has monitored his progress closely.

He will now join Ian Black as a new face at Riccarton when the squad reports for pre-season training on Thursday.

Suso favours a position wide on the right side of midfield but can operate anywhere across the middle or in attack. His signing will increase Laszlo's options for next season.

Meanwhile, striker Christian Nade is striving to attain full fitness in time for Hearts' opening game of the new season on 15 August against Dundee United. The Frenchman underwent a hernia operation last month and has been rehabilitating in France. He will not take part in matches during next month's pre-season tour of Germany.

Nade said today: "The focus is on being fit for the start of the season. I've been doing my rehab back in France and I'll continue with it when I get back to the academy. I want to get back as soon as possible.

"The first game of the season is my target and, if everything goes well, then hopefully I will be okay for then."

Did you need your mummy to help you type that?

Francisco Sandaza - you hear of him before he scored double figures for United last season? Nacho Novo - you hear of him before he signed for Raith? Ivan Sproule - you hear of him before you signed him from Biddy Mulligans FC?

No.

You have been suitably humiliated and are now admonished.

Welcome Suso.. If you've got a little bit pace and happy to take someone on - right wing is yours.

Dont see why him coming from the third tier of spanish football is a problem, he's only coming to play in the SPL?

More young talent on the way to Tynecastle. More competition for places. Good to see Csaba knows how to spot talent, rather than pulling players who used to play for him elsewhere.

Looking forward to more transfer news. I'm expecting one (or more) high profile signing.

IF he comes he will be just fine if he just applies himself and adjusts to the pace of our game which can take a bit of time.

He is not going up a level in skill (how good do you think hibs are for gawds sake??!!) by comming to the spl. The physical side of our game will be quite a shock for him though.

Worth a shot as he will be on low wages with no fee involved. Win win really for us.

He's versatile which shabba likes and could be another Juanjo, still mind his belter against the junkies to qualify for Europe, again, what a goal that was. I trust Csabas eye for a player and expect a few more to be made before the end of August.

To all the thick hobbos (which covers almost you all) Cregg was freed by Falkirk 5 minutes after May was given the job, that to me says he is mince. Good enough for the junkies though obviously.

Relegation to the hibees! relegation to the junkies! The hibs are going down, down, down, where they belong.

#30 The Gorgie Boys Are in Their Boyfriends

Don't be a fricking moron all your life!!!

Cregg's contract was up on the 31st of May, the standard termination date for football contracts. On the 1st of June he became a free agent and was able to negotiate with whoever he wanted. Eddie May was confirmed as Falkirk "Manager" last week by which time Hughes had obviously been in contact and made an offer.

How does that equate to May deciding he's mince?

You really shouldn't type on an empty head.

And by the way, SoSo is free because he has been playing amateur football.

32 Now, now, i know it must hurt Yogi stocking up on 1st division standard players for when he takes the Leith rent boys back down to where they rightfuly should be but no need for the insults. He wasn't offered a new deal at Falkirk because he is mince, May's words not mine so he was looking for a similar standard of club. Unfortunately for him a lesser side playing in Lochend was his only option. Still good pairing him and Hogg next season eh??

Driver gets 2 weeks off and misses the training and games in Germany,Csaba says well done he deserves it but hang on that means he misses the planning for season 2009-10. Ok he deserves a break but to miss the full 2 weeks tells me he is already punted, would fit into the time structure finances are needed to tie up players.

Erm
60

jordijammo,

Even without the promised "warchest" the Jambos have been able to finish above the hobos most seasons since Mad Vlad took over, so what does that say about the wee team? Who's taking who for a ride? Hobos stump up money to watch a mediocre team finish a mediocre position every season with hardly a piece of silverware or a wee trip to Europe to show for it and every year instead of strenghtening, they have to sell their best players and still the budget for the new manager goes down. The same thing happens at Tynecastle, but at least we achieve.

Another good news day, Hearts make another signing, the Hobos look like they're selling their best player.

Miser Petrie will trouser the cash and Yogi will be forced to bring in more Bosman's an ex Falkirk players.

Meanwhile Hearts are planning for an extended run in the Europa Cup and all the cash that will go with that, more money from any new TV deal, more signings and so on.

That's what you call ambition, finish 3rd get in to Europe and watch the money roll in playing the big boys every other Wednesday night.

Why would a right-winger coming in mean that Andy Driver, a left-winger, is about to leave?

We lost Miko and Chesney last season so we need to replace width in our squad. If he's got any pace at all and is willing to run at defenders he'll be popular at tynie, just like Miko was when he was willing to run at players

What I'm baffled by is how Hobos like you have the audacity to go on about how Hearts couldn't manage a league win against Hibs last season. In case it slipped your tiny mind, we did, once again, beat you in the Scottish Cup, which does count in the season's statistics. If, and its a huge if, and when Hibs have managed to surpass Hearts record of 22 unbeaten games in all competitions spanning 5 years over you lot, I think maybe then you'll have some bragging rights over us.

I have been to Scotland on a few occasions and loved it. I like Glasgow and Edinburgh is also good. I watched the Springboks play at Murrayfield twice and it was a nice vibe.
Football is such a difficult game to understand to me. Not the rules I follow them quite easy and I even watch the Premiership sometimes, but the game is silly. In Scotland I know Celtics and Rangers will always win the league.
But nobody here knows about them, all our football fans wear Arsenal, Manchester or Liverpool tops. Are Hearts the team in Edinburgh?

SCUM OF THE EARTH

96 Pete, Hearts are the only team in Edinburgh, there is a mob who play down by the docks, thugs and louts mostly and always in bother with the law for drinking assualts/songs and generaly scum though. They also have the worst sporting achievment worldwide. Not having won the Scottish National Cup for 108 years in a row, and yes it's played every year. Even sports such as dominos and womens rugby laugh at the hibs!! The funny thing is though they must still have a sense of humour otherwise they wouldn't be on Hearts stories talking the biggest load of p!sh, and they would only have a following of around 3 thousand....hang on a minute, they do!!

Yes, "forbesy", a tragic day indeed.

But you only get a day like that if you are a serious contender.

You and your kind won't know anything about that, of course.

All you've got is the consolation of rejoicing in a better team's failure...

Rolland, you are obviously at the drink again.

As far as I am aware the 'big boys' of Europe are in the Champions League...you lot have not even qualified for the Europa League yet so good luck with your planning there.

Also, Hibs have lost 1 player and signed 1 player?

You lot have lost Aguiar and Neilson, and signed Black and 'Suso' - whoopeeeee doo!

I'm also not certain about your point on Hibs bringing in Bosman's when that is EXACTLY what you lot are doing?

You are in cloud cuckoo land my friend.

jordijammo,

You hobos can stick yer 7-0s and yer 6-2s.

Try 15-9 for size.

That's 15 Major Scottish honours for Hearts, 9 for Hobos
